Geir Henning writes:

The Norwegian music programme, Lydverket, managed to get an interview with Morrissey in his hotel room in London on November 5 this month.

You can see the result on the Smiths / Morrissey- half-an-hour-special on NRK1 Wednesday December 4 at 2230.

The next edition of "Lydverket", the Norwegian pubcaster NRK’s weekly pop music show, will be a Smiths special. Included in the show is a brand new interview with Morrissey!!!

The show will be airing on NRK1 on Wednesday 4 December at 10.30 pm (with a rerun on NRK2, Sunday 8 December at 11.25 pm).

Video clips from the show will probably be available from Lydverket’s website after the first airing.

...The trailer shows a clip of Morrissey saying "Yes I was in The Smiths, but it felt very much like a solo career." or something like that.)

  • The Smiths a solo carerer? Boy, that will piss off Mr. Marr.

  • Apart from Morrissey the show will include a guided tour of Manchester (with Mike Joyce), and interviews with Stephen Street and Simon Goddard. There will also be an interview with one of Norway’s biggest Moz-fans, Alex Rinde, from the truly excellent band The Margarets.

There is no doubt – Christmas comes early this year!!!

  • I am a norwegian moz-fan and this I guees is good news. But the show is awful and the show`s hosts seems to know less about music than I guess Prince Charles does. They will probably not add anything new or ask any interresting questions. I very much doubt Morrissey would have said yes to this interview had he seen the program before. But since it`s Morrissey I`ll have a look.

The Margarets? They are like Belle & Sebatian. Not very good at all.

  • You say the host of the show doesn't know anything about Moz, well, I've found a Norwigean newspaper who apperantly doesn't know anything either....

    http://www.nrk.no/magasin/musikk/nyhende/pop_og_rock/2249925.html

    Look at this site...It says:

'Morrissey, tildigere Smiths, spilte i Sverige forleden. Foto: Album.'

below a picture...but THAT'S NOT MORRISSEY!!! I've seen this picture in some other Norweigian newspaper...
    It's a swedish look-alike!!!!

Are the host sure it's Morrissey he has interwieved and not some other look-alike?

  • ...what Morrissey says in the trailer is: "Well I was in the Smiths as you know, and that wasn't solo, although it felt like a solo career most of the time."
And second of all I must say I support those who criticize the hosts of this show, 'cause they are really bad. But one must remember that this show is mainly done by that Geir Henning character who seems to be a genuine Smiths/ Morrissey fan, and he probably knows how to ask interesting questions.

  • Actually I thought that this was pretty good. I never seen Lydverket before but as far as I could see they seemed to know what they were talking about. In fact, I think got more out of this half-hour special from norway than I got from that one-hour special from Granada Tv made in the UK a while ago anyway.
