Sorry, its all in Italian, but at least it clarifies that it is from Derby in 1983, and some of the songs played. Of course, I'll be watching it!!

ROCK MASTERS: THE SMITHS

Regia di Tom Corcoran (1983)
In onda: martedì 3 dicembre ore 21.30

Listen to 'Death At One's Elbow', you'll get to like it.
  • I’m currently doing a minor in Italian, and finally I get the chance to use my skills in the language. The fact that it concerns Derby (where I was born and raised; go Rams!!) makes it all the more better!

    Directed by Tom Cocoran (1983)
Playing: Tuesday, 3 December at 9.30pm

The Smiths of Morrissey and Johnny Marr represented the qualitative apex of British 80s pop music. Hot on the footsteps of Oscar Wilde, they were the first traditional rock group (with a vocal stamp of the crooners of the past), capable of reinventing the old light music from across the Channel.

The two formed a collaboration, which gave an admirable fruitful punch to an album that is fundamental in understanding the transition from the New Wave and Punk of the late 70s to the 90s pop of Oasis and Blur. Recorded in December 1983 at the Derby Assembly Rooms, the concert offers us a ‘live’ sliver of the Smiths, whilst at the hem of the international success that would have accompanied their self-titled debut album, between the proposed songs, “This Charming Man”, “What Difference Does It Make?”, “Handsome Devil” and “Hand In Glove”.

Repeated: Thursday, 5 December at 12.05am; Friday, 6 December at 12.05 am; Saturday 7 December at 12.15pm; Saturday, 14 December at 2.25am.

Spero che esse utile! (I hope it’s useful!)
