The Smiths get unlikely tribute - NME.com THE SMITHS are the subject of an unlikely tribute from the heroes of emo and post-hardcore. New compilation ‘How Soon Is Now?’ sees acts like Hundred Reasons, Million Dead, Cursive and Instruction tackle the hits of Smiths and Morrissey. The idea came about when Nigel Adams from the Sorepoint label realised that the new wave of bands overwhelmingly cited the Manchester legends as an influence. Work began on the project six months ago, and the album is due for release in May. On it, Hundred Reasons cover ‘How Soon Is Now?’, Million Dead tackle ‘Girlfriend In A Coma’ and Cursive re-interpret ‘Frankly Mr Shankly’. Elsewhere, Instruction do ‘Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me’, thisGIRL do ‘Shoplifters Of The World Unite’, Yourcodenameis:Milo do ‘Death Of A Disco Dancer’, Read Yellow do ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’, Lomax do ‘Handsome Devil’ and Garrison do ‘Panic’.
