New musical expression of anti-fascism by Martin Smith, Socialist Worker

I was pointed to the latest issue of this trotskyite "newspaper" (page 11). Not sure if Moz was even in the UK at the time, but I guess the bill was Moz friendly. As for their comments.... how about neither is true.

  • "Just like in the 1970s, this gig fused politics and music together."

Oh yes, I'm sure if it was just a political rally 2,200 people would have paid money to get in. The various socialist and anti-fascist groups in the UK are virtual non-entities these days, and the teens who went to that gig to watch the Libertines and so on certainly don't give a damn about it.

Besides, what's the point in an anti-fascism rally when the largest vaguely 'fascist' group in the UK is the tiny National Front?

And before anyone suggests the BNP are 'Nazis' or 'fascist', I suggest they look up a dictionary.

              • The BNP is a racist party, which is run by people who, less than a decade ago, were skinhead with "love" and "hate" tattooed on their knuckles. They've learnt from the success of Haider and Le Pen, let their hair grow, put suits on, and toned down the conspiracy theories a bit. But they're still a racist party. Of course, they share policies with other right and left wing parties - national socialism has an intellectual heritage - its not just people with S/M fantasies dressing up as nazis you know.

I doubt that you're that much of a racist. You might feel a bit freaked out by seeing people with different coloured skin around you, but as long as they're working, it doesn't seem to worry you that much.

Your objections to globalisation (which includes mobility of labour as well as jobs) are pretty much the same as John Kerry's and they are as hopelessly wrong as his. But then you seem to be keen on free trade within Europe, so at least that's a start!

                By the way:

"Globalisation is in the interests of the huge corporations, not the people of this country. " Well, I'm one of the "people of this country", and I have a pension which invests in the stock of "the huge corporations". I also buy products produced - more cheaply - by huge corporations in this globalised world of ours. I buy goods made in formerly countries which have seen the most incredible improvements in their standards of living by pursuing a policy of comparative advantage, which is only possible in a globalised world.

What a curious little thing you are.

I never thought I would ever come across someone so utterly devoid of the ability to think clearly and rationally.

Your somantic defence of the BNP as a democratic party is laughable. "Blah, blah, blah...the dictionary says" Good grief, is that really the best defence you can come up with?

                Has history taught you nothing?

Fascists and dictators rarely point out their vile intentions in manifestos...the forced repatriation of a migrant community that in large part has contributed much to the British Isles over the last 5 decades is hardly going to be a vote winner is it?

You also seem to be very selective in what you choose to support your "argument"...the youth killed in Glasgow recently wasn't killed by an Asian gang as you report, he was in fact killed by a gang with Asians in it, there were at least two white youths involved in his abduction and subsequent death.

People here have been very kind to you...

My own feeling is that you are vulgar, vile and ever so slightly stupid and dangerous. My hope is that you contract some terrible illness that sees you either dead or unable to ever sow your seed...the idea of more like you is just utterly depressing. To be equally vulgar, you are, in short a dick.

  • This pathetic article accuses Morrissey of writing songs that "glorified the National Front and right wing football hooligans" presumably referring to 'We'll Let You Know' and 'National Front Disco'. In what sense do either of these songs support or even condone racism? It is unlikely that the author of the article has actually listened to either song.

I don't see how a publication is allowed to print such a blatant untruth without breaking libel laws. Bearing in mind Morrisey's apparently litigious nature, I'd like to see him see Morrissey take the Socialist Worker to court over these accusations. Hopefully this would crush this hateful publication and the dangerous people who support it.

  • The Socialist Worker urged it's readers to vote Thatcher in the '80's you know.

They felt that the Labour Party wasn't supportive enough of their views and so urged it's readers and the members of the SWP to vote Conservative.

That was a well thought out plan wasn't it children?

As for other posters making comments about the BNP not being fascististic in the "true" sense of the word I urge everyone here to avoid over-intellectualising the threat posed by the likes of Griffin and his hateful mob to the participative democracy "enjoyed" by citizens of this country of every colour and creed...fascist or not the BNP are hateful.

  • everyone comes out with their misinformed political leanings all of a sudden.

so what WAS the fucking point in morrissey draping himself in a flag? you KNOW it was to court controversy. burn ALL flags i say, flags are pathetic divide and rule in action. morrissey is delusional with his obsession with the union jack...containing the st. george's cross which is derived from the knights templar flag. morrissey, read up on the knights templar from a non mainstream source! walk around temple bar and work out a few things. he's supporting the monarchy by wearing the flag, and he's supporting the ongoing control of the UK by wearing it too...'temple' and the city of london square mile being a centre of covert control in the UK. FACT. find out for yourself. the flag represents absolute evil that has the population stuck as the mindless minions that they will continue to be until they wake up.

for an "intellectual" he is caught up in ignorance, as are 95% of people on here i am sure. there will be a handful who know exactly what i'm talking about here, and the rest who go "what the fuck is this bullshit?!?" cos they left their brains in starbucks.

  • Those countries you quote are not socialist, they are communist. The bastardisation of communism witnessed in those countries is morally aporant, but it has nothing to do with socialism.

Countries like Sweden have had long histories of socialist governments, with nothing like those problems. The new government of Spain is socialist.

To equate socialism with m'mass murder' is absurd. It's like equating capitalism with Nazi genocide
