Morrissey Tour Update
Following successful shows in Boston and Norfolk Morrissey's US tour is back in full swing. With that in mind we are delighted to announce rescheduled dates for Philadelphia at The Mann Centre on the 23rd of July and Atlantic City at the Borgata on the 24th of July. It has not been possible to reschedule shows at New York's Madison Square Garden, Holmdel, New Jersey's PNC Arts Centre, Northampton, Mass's, Pines Theatre or Baltimore's Ram's Head as despite our best efforts those venues are not available during the remaining tour period. It is hoped that we will be able to add a US leg to the tour this fall and that we will be able to play all of the above cities. In the meantime anyone holding tickets to those 4 shows should obtain a refund at the point of purchase. The tour continues this week with shows in Knoxville,TN; Clearwater, FL; Boca Raton, FL and Orlando, FL.

Of course the real reason is those shows didn't sell well. Nothing to be upset about, many of us knew Morrissey wasn't going to be able to fill all those cities clustered together, with 13,000 at the MSG. What was he thinking?
To tell you the truth, I much prefer he go through this "i'm sick" act in order to get out of playing to an empty arena, than actually going through it. IT would have been awkward to be there at the MSG.
I still love you MOrrissey...but please, your last two US tours weren't planned right. Fire someone!!!! And play a smaller GA show in NYC next time.
Personally i think MSG would have been possible as a one off show...meaning no shows in at least 2 of these cities...Philly, Boston, Virginia (DC), NJ.

Fair enough, but it's over between us.
This is, in effect, a Dear John letter. I won't speak for my wife, who has been waiting on the edge of her seat with no updates or "Please bear with us" messages from the Great One (said with maximum sarcasm) since some bullshit or other made him pull out of the June 30 show...UPDATE - I've actually spoken to my wife, one of the great Morrissey apologists, and she said the following...
"I'm done with him. I'm never buying another one of his albums."

i'm glad that at this point in Morrissey's eclectic career he still causes a furor and maybe thats what all this drama was about...i have some stories for a later date on the 30 minute shows, peops on stage, last minute cancellations. is it validation...I'm not saying he wasn't sick
dial-a-cliche'
What's really depressing i guess is the very fact that time has caught up with him, yes even him, and the fans are older (even the young ones); times have changed..It's been two decades of Morrissey and before that the Smiths...He's been a huge part of mine and my friends musical landscape - all moped out and maudlin in such a poetic fashion...i loved and still love listening to him, he makes me sad and happy at the same time, he exudes confidence, the double meanings, the alternative british invasion...We lived those lyrics way back when...his music gave the odd man/woman out of place in the crowd a feeling of confidence, togtherness, a sense of irony, coolness, it was cool to listen to him and not everyone got it and most still don't - whether he admits it/likes it/ he gave gays a sense of belonging with a cutting tongue and sharp wit and you could still be in the closet and get along in school - thanks for that!
it wouldn't be much fun if he really was a pop star...he is indeed a rock star, a legend, a cult icon, respected among his peers... He's hit his stride , sure there's more to come, its on his terms, he doesn't have to do anything to prove anything - he's done what he's wanted and the devout have gladly followed.. for a very long time - the best has come and gone and come again - for nostalgia i enjoy every bit of him - like visiting an old friend - glad for the good times though - will always love Morrissey & will always love The Smiths - very relevant to this day even if not current...yay! sad about MSG but Borgata, I can' wait...

I presently have the option to tour for the remainder of 2007, or start a new album. I don't have a deal, but I have an offer from Warner Brothers. At the same time, there are some great touring offers - New Zealand, South Africa, my beloved Scandinavia, Israel and Iran. I would love to sing in Tehran.

Now I Admit, Morrissey booking BOTH Madison Square Garden(13,000 plus) and PNC Bank Arts Center (17,000 counting the lawn) was a bit quixotic; and likewise, Im sure Morrissey likely had 2/3's of both venues filled at best. He probably should have booked one or the other. With this in mind, If the Mozzer made up even one of the two shows it would have likely sold out b/c of the overspill from the cancelled show.
To play Every region in the US including towns where Morrissey's fanbase is scant at best, and not play one show in the New York-New Jersey area where he could sell at least 10,000 tickets if he were only to do a single area show is vexing, disheartening, and financially nonsensical on his part(=0(
