Morrissey in Gothenburg for official book launch - Radio Sweden

Excerpt:

Maria Hamrefors, managing director of the Akademibokhandeln book chain, tells Radio Sweden that it was only on Monday that they received official confirmation that the 54-year-old singer had chosen Gothenburg and the west coast of Sweden for his one and only European book signing.

From Christian:

Most interesting is Swedish radio (local for Gothenburg). Interview with the
manager of the shop, she is called Maria Hammerfors
, yesterday (Monday).

She says "He (Morrissey) choose Gothenburg for his signing of his book release. According to the publisher he likes Gothenburg a lot and it was his wish to come to Gothenburg to do the signing here." More: "We will be ready on Thursday if there are thousands of fans coming". "He will only sign the book", on the question if you can bring your own albums/posters/books.

Regarding the restaurants in the area (McDonalds, Burger King): "It shouldn't be a problem. The publisher knows the area and they know the location of the book store".

Text on the website for the Swedish national radio.

The Big Green Bookshop in North London are opening at midnight to sell the book. http://www.biggreenbookshop.com/. I know this, because I own the shop! I can't wait for the book to come out. I haven't seen it myself yet, but I want to be one of the first people EVER to get my hands on a copy.

Hey here's the rest of that cryptically cool Smiths 83 set from Martin Whitehead.
How these remained out of view for thirty years is beyond my comprehension?!
Thankfully the negatives survived the extended sentence of cruel cold isolation to bring so much curious intrigue and revelry to the world today.

Bigmouth Strikes Again: Smiths Bassist Andy Rourke Tells All - The Daily Beast
by Michael Moynihan Oct 13, 2013 12:17 PM EDT

Excerpt:

All of this was unsurprising: the terrifically wealthy singer is both notoriously prickly and embarrassingly tight-fisted. The Penguin affair reminded me of a lovely afternoon I spent in the East Village with his former band mate Andy Rourke, the talent behind (partially) bass-driven Smiths classics “This Charming Man,” “Pretty Girls Make Graves,” “Barbarism Begins at Home,” and “You’ve Got Everything Now.” Morrissey and Rourke haven’t spoken in decades; he has since dismissively referred to The Smiths’ rhythm section as mere session musicians. When we chatted in 2011, Rourke dryly noted that his songwriting credits with Morrissey resulted in no royalties.

During a long, meandering conversation...

In publishing Morrissey's autobiography as a classic, Penguin has destroyed its own reputation - The Telegraph
by Brendan O'Neill

Excerpt:

But it isn't Morrissey we should be slating here; it's Penguin. In agreeing to publish Moz's apparently revealing life story as a classic, Penguin has unwittingly set fire to its own reputation. It has shown itself willing to cave in spectacularly to cultural relativism, to embrace the modern fashion for eschewing judgment in favour of squawking: "Everything is equally valid."
