Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey after his endorsement of far-right politics
Billy Bragg wishes "there was a way back" for Morrissey.

The 62-year-old musician has publicly criticised the 60-year-old singer for his endorsement of far-right politics and he believes the former Smiths frontman has "burned too many bridges" for redemption.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, Billy said: "I wish there was a way back for him. As a Smith's fan and as an anti-racist activist, I wish.
"I worry that he may have burned too many bridges, though."
Billy responded to Morrissey's comments in 2019, whereby he claimed "everyone ultimately prefers their own race" when addressing the allegations of racism he has been faced with.
The 'Full English Brexit'' singer hit back after hearing the comments as he was "heartbroken" for Smiths fans.
He said at the time: "I think he's decided that he wants to betray everything he ever said in the Smiths, and he's broken the hearts of a lot of people..."
And, although it hasn't stopped Billy from listening to the Smiths' music, he won't be tuning into Morrissey's solo catalogue anytime soon.
He added: "I'll listen to The Smiths, but I was never into [his solo stuff] anyway."

bragg sounds like a complete hypocrite as he, of course, does NOT wish morrissey to find a way back. if he wished such a thing, he wouldve shut up on this issue. you dont need a lot of insight into human nature to know how attitude change (especially in men) can successfully be prevented for good.
The new Countthree of Solo but fascinating that someone like you who was never touched by a man claim to know so much about them. Maybe you based it all on your own apparent prejudice against them.
My guess is you need a good f*** to come back down to earth. But vagina pains are a problem for some involuntary spinsters.
You socialists along with the gay community never allowed some people a second chance namely your political opponents yet see yourselves as loving and caring.
Hateful small minded bigots the lot of you.

Anyone know why Billy has an obsession with a man whose solo work he never listens to? Because I found him whining about Morrissey way back in 2007 over Moz suing the NME (again). What's it to him????

The great thing about Morrissey is that he will burn a bridge while standing on it AND still somehow manages to survive.
Told by the socialists workers club (where no one ever had a job) what to say and "think". You should come out as a conservative and donate money to the Trump campaign. Your socialism was only group pressure and cheap wine and fags and the odd lay that wasn't even any good.

Then don’t f***ing look, kiddo. You’ve got nothing to add but fawning jibber-jabber with a gob-ful of felched detritus anyway.
Ever since the dawn of Solo people here have claimed they do not read posts from anons. But then they get too curious.
People read and follow me more since I dropped the registered nicknames and started posting as an anon and despite that everyone knows who I am and are obsessed with me.

I took pity on The Communist Party when they were selling stuff on Buchanan Street & everyone was ignoring them.

Did they sign albums by other people for £200? I’d definitely feel sorry for them if they did that.

:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: She'll look. She's looking now. As soon as she's done promoting herself as a hard done by, neo-liberal revolutionary arse-wipe persecuted in her London garret, she'll be back typing even more 'look at me' jibber-jabber.

The site would not survive without guests/anonymous users as is highlighted by these stats taken seconds ago ....

Total: 358 (members: 14, guests: 344)

If someone decides to ignore a user(s) fine. Why always announce as if it's some power trip?

Billy Bragger seeks publicity by pretending to give a damn about what Moz says.

You have to seriously question the motivation of anyone who says: "I worry that he may have burned too many bridges, though." No he doesn't worry. Either he is looking for a headline (which he got) or is one of the constantly outraged who can't stand anyone having a different opinion.

Do you mean like you: currently outraged because someone has a different opnion? I mean, you have to question the motivation?

I’ve never understood this sentiment. There are so many beautiful solo songs, particularly b-sides. How can you “never be into” his solo stuff, aside from being too lazy to actually listen to it?

you can re-skin morrisseysolo everyday of the week but if you continue to allow anons then its the same old shithole that it was this time last week.

The only way Bragg gets headlines is by always jumping on the bandwagon of the PC police against Morrissey, didn't Bragg once be involved in music industry and he wasn't very good at that as well

The thing is .... you don't seem to understand how this site works. Technically the vast majority are Anon (some people's true identities become known) but most sign in/up under assumed names and with fake ohotos of, say Bruce Lee. 'Registered' users are every bit as anonymous as guests - with some registered users choosing not to be visible under their assumed name when accessing the site.

Morrissey is on the verge of a UK, EU & US 'tour'. He's dropping new material and is about to launch a new album, yet.....the largest percentage of people that use this site are guests. Registered users numbers are dwarfed by guests.

Remove the guests and you'll have approx. 20 people chatting irregularly about shit stabbers, gay men are paedophiles, it's only right when you're white and generally how racist they are.

Agreed...it simply smacks of a deliberate move on his part not to even want to listen.
His choice, his loss; Brag might have learned a thing or two from the master that is Moz.

Whatever will fan-boy Morrissey make of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon and Catherine Blaiklock’s new, populist, free speech initiative, Alliance?

Morrissey has, in the past, directly expressed his sympathy for Yaxley-Lennon “It’s very obvious that Labour or the Tories do not believe in free speech … I mean, look at the shocking treatment of Tommy Robinson.”

Morrissey has indirectly praised Blaiklock, the founder of the Brexit Party, when he cooed over the leader of that party, one Nigel Farage who he claimed “…..would make a good Prime Minister”

At the Alliance launch familiar topics are to be raised:
  • Islamisation of our culture
  • the LGBT agenda sexualising our young children
These are not only alt-right tropes to be raised but are topics consistently peddled in this forum.

To add credibility to the event Carl Benjamin will speak. This is the man who tweeted to Jess Philips “I wouldn’t even rape you.” Followed by “There’s been an awful lot of talk about whether I would or wouldn’t rape Jess Phillips. I suppose with enough pressure I might cave, but let’s be honest nobody’s got that much beer.”

Given Morrissey’s recent apologist comments, for the now convicted Weinstein, one wonders if he’ll be in the front row, nodding sagely, when Benjamin speaks the ‘truth’ about sexual violence.

This is Morrissey’s World. A world were people can be attacked:
  • for being who they are
  • for believing in what they believe
  • and for practicing the faith of their choice
His voluble support for Yaxley-Lennon, the Brexit Party, For Britain is testament to this.

Alliance has stated “We want to reclaim freedom of speech.” But it would seem it only wants to reclaim ‘freedom of speech’ that supports its myopic world view. Sound familiar?

No , there is no way back for BB. His attitude supports the crushing of non - violent free speech , the toadying of fellow extremists at the NME has blinded him to that.

I appreciate the contributions that many anonymous posters make to this site, however, like registered users there are a few that each person may individually wish to ignore based on their own feelings towards that individual.

The issue is that this site allows for a sniper approach to block unwanted registered users as they can be blocked by each, unique registered name, but with anons (unfortunately) it is more of a shotgun approach that requires one to make the decision to block all or none.

It has something to do with VPNs, or some other internet/systems based limitation that falls completely outside my realm of understanding, and quite unfortunate given that one or two maladjusted, malnourished miscreants have led me at times to block all anon posts. In any event, I wouldn't view such claims as being based on some sort of "power trip", but more out of a reasonable expectation (or more realistically delusional desire) to have an enjoyable experience when coming here.

A considered response. I almost entirely agree.

Where I disagree is on the more provocative issue of power trip. Why announce the ‘ignore’? I continue to believe that’s someone’s petty attempt at power grab.

On this site now: there is a total 463 users

448 guests
15 members

3.2% of the total users are registered

The site couldn’t survive if guests were barred.

An interesting op-ed about how France is dealing with Islam.
The article argues the point that having a frank and open discussion about the negative impacts that parts of Islam may have on democratic states can now be had by moderate and progressive politicians/people and not just alt-right wing nuts:
