Getting The Smith's back in the charts

Getting The Smiths back in the charts

As contraversial as it may be, have you not been suprised that Smiths records haven't been remixed, remade or re-released recently?

Although The Smith's aren't dead or anything, as you see with rap artists such as 2Pac, Notorious B.I.G countless of remixed albumns have been released, although it sometimes splits the fanbase, it has been quite sucessful.

I've seen that Mark Ronson made a Dance remix of "How soon is Now?":- http://hypem.com/track/620890/The+Smiths+Mark+Ronson+Remix++-+How+Soon+Is+Now

Although i doesn't sound like much has been done with this song, I'm sure someone could do something better then the above.

I suppose the other thought is that the lyrics etc wouldn't appeal as much to this day and age.

The Smith's is my favorite band.

NO NO NO!! if you want to get them back in the charts, we sould all download a particullar song from itunes at the same time:thumb:

how about if there was a official release of bbc radio sessions and live tv stuff, for instance the jam done a 3 cd set comprising all of their bbc material,i think that hat ful of hollow showed that the smiths really shined in this environment and i feel done some of there best work,i know some people see it different to me but i would buy ''the smiths, the complete bbc sessions''

i've never been a big fan of remixes. they never beat the original.

you're right. i would certainly love to have some smiths back in the charts, in any shape or form... even if it is some cheesy remix or a tacky cover.

Why don't we all agree to buy the same song in the same week:thumb: Let's look ahead, into the new year, pick a week and promote it like hell to all the Moz / Smiths fans on the internet, let's say, the second week in February... oh, hang on... http://forums.morrissey-solo.com/showthread.php?t=68118 and http://www.getmozinthecharts.vze.com/

Bugger!

but now with the help of facebook and twitter i think the experiment could really really work,

i think we should aim for life is a pigstye again, how much havoc would that cause the radio stations, having to play a 7 minute song in the charts:thumb:

I think the lack of traffic on this thread should tell you all you need to make a decision to drop this idea....
