This does seem to be pretty much standard practice amongst celebrity musicians and artists - including ones much bigger than Moz though, so it wouldn't suprise me. Sling enough bags of $$$$ at a pop/rock star, and they'll happily turn up and play in your living room.  If I was some rich oil baron in Saudi Arabia I'd definately try booking him - imagine all the obscure songs you could demand on the setlist.
