Here is the question asked to Lloyd Cole on his official website, you can find it on the "fanbase section/ask lloyd 03/00".

Question asked by Gordon Forrester, UK:

"Your career and Morrissey's seem to have mirrored each other. The Smiths and the Commotions forming and splitting at the same time.Much maligned and misunderstood lead singer goes solo with mixed results before decamping to the States, losing record label along the way.
Morrissey once said you are the nicest person he has ever met.Sandie Shaw covered 'Are You Ready To Be Hearbroken' on Morrissey's advice and you name him in 'Seen The Future'.
Do you still keep in touch now that he lives full time in America ?
Have you ever thought of working together?
What do you think the results would be like if you did?"

Answer from Lloyd:

"No we're not in touch.I'm not sure what we'd have to say."

i don't think this implies that Morrissey & Cole are on bad terms, just that they lead seperate lives/careers & aren't in touch.

I remember reading such nice things about Lloyd, said by Morrissey in the mid-eighties.

And then I remember Lloyd saying THE MOST HORRID AND VILE AND BACK-STABBING COMMENTS ABOUT MORRISSEY in the UK music press around 1992.

In short, Moz gave Lloyd a back handed personal compliment [while simultaneously critising his recordings!!] and Lloyd responded later with a real name calling session.

Someone probably has the details of what Lloyd said - I don't keep such trash but hey.
