  • I believe I am in on these gigs. San Diego to AZ is slightly more manageable than Alaska or SLC.

Who is with me? God only knows there are friends in Arizona I have yet to meet.

  • I just called the Celebrity Theatre and they still had no idea that Morrissey was coming Aug 9. After asking several people, the box office person said she doesn't know why it is not on the schedule yet, but said it should be on their website soon.

  • Does anyone have someplace I can crash in NM, El Paso, or Az.? Also, anybody that lives in the general vicinity of the shows, can you recommend any decent motels that are really cheap to check out. Someplace that is semi-clean and will not give me crabs?

  • Yuma's venue is tiny (i have cousins out there and in phoenix too). and it's much closer than salt lake city! Phoenix's isn't bad either. seats are no more than 75 feet away from the stage, but yuma's is way smaller. i'm going to both! if you're nice and not a psycho killer, i'll let you crash.

  • the celebrity theatre in phoenix is a theater-in-the-round. I understand that the stage revolves like a black-eyed lazy susan, and that no seat is further away than 75 feet.

  • Don't let me discourage you from Morrisey's August 7th show at Tucson's Rialto Theater. I bought a ticket - I'll be there. You should be too, but don't expect the moon and stars above. That music-box is a local punchline for over-booking, so-so sound and impressive riots. On the other hand, it is 30 feet away from the classy yet inexpensive Hotel Congress. My advice? Go to the show, and stay at that deeply cool hotel. But don't get handcuffed at the Rialto. I personally watched a truly nasty girl mouth off to a flunky cop, get handcuffed - and get punched in the face. Then a (justifiable) riot. (It was for the R&B Ashanti gig...) Don't worry: Tucson's North Side is safe yet funky, but cops here are about as smart as those in Boulder Colorado. And equally unviolent.

(Since so many speculate on what Morrissey thinks, might think, might say or do, I'll add to the lot. He might walk out of the Tucson show early - I can't imagine the sound system will be to the band's specifications. On the other hand, he seems to have planned dates in Anchorage & Colorado Springs. So I guess he'll be on his nicest most acommodating behavior. But with Morrissey, you really never know. I would not be surprised one bit if he scraps the whole tour altogether...)
