Just discovered two new instrumentals from The Miraval-Sessions have been made public via 'Ambitious Outsiders'. This time it's an instrumental version of 'Nobody Loves Us' and, more interesting, an instrumental demo of the yet unpublished 'Laughing Anne'.

  • Thank you chris for offering these mp3s. Your efforts are much appreciated. I only wish other people with rare songs would let them out to be heard by the fans.

    Keep up the good work!

  • I really don't understand them. Basically doesn't every Morrissey song or any song for that matter have an instrumental version. I mean the artist lays his voice over the already complete instrumental version right?

So why do we consider these rare and why are only certain songs listed on the AO website?

    • every song does have an instrumental version, yes, but in this case, these instumentals were demos that were recorded by the band, presumably before Morrissey worked out the vocal portion of the song. i think there is an appeal to hear them because they represent a very early stage in the creative process. it's kind of like getting your hands on a pencil sketch of Picasso's Guernica, drawn in his sketchbook before he started working on the final painting. (although i'd much rather have the latter! :)

the last instrumental i downloaded was pretty lousy. and the appeal is not like what the above poster said, because Morrissey had nothing to do with it, it's more like getting the tree that made the paper that Picasso would later scribble on.
