Andy Rourke was unable to make it onto Terry Christian's BBC GMR show last Wednesday due to heavy snow. The white stuff kept him at bay but we are hoping to have him live in the studio, very soon.

  • Maybe the Smiths should be on vh1's Bands
Reunited. It would certaninly be more interesting that kajagoogoo, Extreme or a Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Of course, I could care less if the Smiths ever reunite. I rarely listen to the Smiths now and like the current bank and Morrissey's solo work more.

  • What has Rourke done of any merrit since leaving the Smiths? Why would anybody want to broadcast an interview with him to the nation? The only hook is tbat back in 1882 he was in The Smiths. So naturally to generate interest in the broadcast the pitch is that Rourke will talk about the possibilty of working again with Morrissey and Marr to which I am sure at 9.59pm after people have listened he will declare 'There is none'. Why on earth would Morrissey go back 16 years to work with either of them? The Smiths music has been unmatched by anyone since. Morrissey has made some great records (solo) and some bad ones, but the idea of a Smiths reunion is ghastly. Leave the past alone. What next Johnny Rotten on "I'm a celebrity get me out of here?" In your dreams.

  • This would be AWESOME! The way it was always meant to be. I mean... Joyce stood out like a sore thumb or actually he didn't stand out at all which is worse. His playing was so structured and amateur compared to what the other three were providing. Now don't get me wrong I am not saying that Joyce can't play just that he played moderately. Just listen to something like the Queen is Dead where Rourke and Marr have very original and complex lines and Joyce just bashes the same simple beat the whole song through. I think this was needed in a way because he gave the others a simple platform to be able to take the liberties of playing more complex parts without muddying up the entire track which is a good thing. For that I thank him but really anyone could be behind that kit and pull that off. I know easy for me to say...I expect flames for this. It should tell you something when the forming band Suede didn't even want Joyce in the group and only recorded one song with him before parting ways. That reminds me Simon Gilbert from Suede is free for a while while Suede take a breather. Or even better BUDGIE!!!!!! That would be a rock dream come true if Budgie played in the Smiths. Please let the Mozzer read this. Budgie is free (outside of the Creatures)and I am sure he would have interest.

  • that would not want to see The Smiths re-unite. Ever.... I mean, They are my favorite band ever, and have been for the last 16 or so years, but I really feel that would just destroy it all. Ya, I have the fantasy of seeing them play a live gig again, but really, everytime a great band reunites, it seems to just kinda ruin their meaning and tarnish some of the legend. I am speaking of Jane's Addiction for one example. They should have left it as it was after Ritual, and never got back together. It will never be the same and they were charismatic and perfect for that time period they were around. Now, they are just unimportant and the new music is mediocre at best. It's just not the same as seeing them in 91' for example, nor will it ever be. The Smiths are that type of band too. It would never be the same as it was during their brief lifespan, and any attempt to try and recapture that glory would would just be pointless. Believe me, if they did get together and play a gig, I would be the first one in line, but I really hope that for the sake of all of them, that does not happen. It's time to move forward, and keep The Smiths' legacy as it is... Legendary. The Smiths is dead. Long live The Smiths!

  • I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Morrissey and Marr got back together and gave it another whirl. I am friends with original Supreme Mary Wilson and went around telling people for years that you'd sooner see a spaceship touch down in your front yard than see a Supremes reunion between Ross and Mary. Then one day I get a phone call from one of Mary's people telling me they were this close to signing a contract for a Supremes reunion! I just about died on the spot. Yeah the whole thing fell apart at the last moment but it came extremely close to happening.

Anyway that taught me the meaning of "never say never." If the money is right, and the artists need the money, it will happen. Have you all been watching that show "Bands Reunited" on VH1? I was never a fan of any of the bands on the show (except for Romeo Void) but the show is MESMERIZING. It's really touching seeing these dummies drop the hate, and pay homage to what they once were. People mature. You never know.

And for those of you who think it might be best to leave the past in the past--you might be right, but even better--you might be wrong. If anybody could surprise the world, it would probably be Morrissey and Marr.
