Just wanted to pass this info along. I got this email from [email protected] (handle Kilborn Tix):

As a ticket holder for tonight's taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn we wanted to inform you that tonight's performance with Morrissey has been postponed as he is sick. The taping will still take place, but Morrissey will not be in attendance. We are sorry for any inconvenience and will inform you when he is rescheduled as soon as we have more information. Thank you.

  • I ws watching the show's ticket website for a long time, and then just "poof" it said that the show was full. It never once gave the opportunity to apply for tickets.

    What/whom do you know? :)

  • Yeah, but who is sick? Morrissey or Kilborn? From this wording it's hard to tell, i.e. is the show going to tape without Morrissey, or is the show not going to be taped at all and thus there's no show for Morrissey to be on? Also, is there a make-up date? Is tonight scrapped, or the whole week?

  • if anyone reads this from sanctuary, or someone in the moz camp, kilbourn has been less than admiring as was first thought, he has been ridiculing the fans, morrissey etc, go to a rival show, he is taking the piss bigtime!

  • I don't know whether to be concerned about this or not. Yes, he's just arrived from England, and I know Morrissey can change dates like most of us do socks. But is he really ill? He has just recently gotten over a serious illness.

It's possible that he's heard about Kilborn's comments; Moz doesn't suffer fools and if he thought that Kilborn was taking the mick he'd be gone in a flash.

Bottom line: This is Morrissey we're dealing with, and we may never know the real reason.

  • The man has just come back to London last week after finishing a tour of America, plays a hometown gig, and then he goes back to America for 5 days and then he's due back in Dublin for 5th June. It's madness no-one can do this type of travelling. No wonder he's sick. Support the man, he's doing his best to please all the fans. I just hope he gets well soon.

  • physically and mentally. He's never tried so hard to promote an album. Radio interviews, nearly every music publication, prime-time telly interviews and live recordings, he's really given it his all this time.

I can't help think he must also feel a bit deflated at missing out on the number one. All his energy up to now has probably been focused on that goal and, now the date has passed, he's probably absolutely exhausted. I'm glad the poor old chap managed to hold it together for long enough to do the Manchester gig, and really wish him a very speedy recovery.

Remember how Moz fell "ill" during the Bowie tour?

The second death of the tour. Just got home from the CBS studios. I got there at about 5:00 am and met up with familiar faces in line from the night before. There were only about 15 of us there in the morning. Everything seemd too be going well. We all had tix and and spent the hours chatting, and hanging about. There were big signs everywhere saying things like "MORRISSEY FANS: Moz is only taping in the studio on the 24th/25th and both dates are SOLD OUT! Please enjoy the show on CBS, blah blah blah. The less than friendly woman at the ticket booth would not even look up when people approached looking for any tickets. She would rather point at the big "Sold out" sign while continuing reading Bitch Quaterly or whatever it was.... Halfway through the day, I had this strange feeling come over me, and I jokingly said to a friend, "Watch, he's gonna cancel...." Haha right? It just seemed too soon after MEN and stuff. At about 3:00pm, a woman from CBS comes out and asked if we were waiting for Moz. We all said yes, and she informed us that he called out sick! Everyones faces dropped, but still had that 'I knew it" expression anyways. Then some other guy checking our tickets came 10 mins later and said that we should hide out Moz badges/shirts, etc., cause they didn't want too many fans in the studio. What? He was saying that Morrissey was performing, and so we did not know what to believe at that point. We all kinda stuck around for awhile, and a few more CBS peeps came out and told us that indeed, Moz really did cancel. Still refusing to quite believe, we still hung around a bit, and by the time reached 4:00pm, the deal was sealed in gold. Julia had failed to arrive, so that was all the official word I needed, and got ready to head home. They then brought out another large sign that read "Due to illness, Morrissey's performance on tonights show has been cancelled..." Many other people had arrived by that point, but it was obvious many of them were not for Moz. Most of us left, while a few stayed to go into the show anyway. Me, I'd rather go home and take the dog out to potty. I am bummed, but cannot say I am surprised. Come on Moz.... Fans had come directly from the MEN show and were there before dawn. Why not you? Anyways, I have tix for the Pepsi thing, and for Kilborn Weds., so I am hoping the rest goes ahead as schedualed. When we aslked the CBS woman if he was still on for Wed, her reply was "We hope so..." They say that they plan on airing a repeat performance of his last appearance on the show tonight to fill in the spot. Sorry bout any spelling errors. I am quite tired.

  • Morrissey's appearance on Jools Holland made me think he had the flu. His voice cracked during TIALTNGO (i think). He's been travelling a lot, shaking a lot of hands, meeting a lot of people, not getting enough rest - all the standard earmarks of a tour.

Looking at his schedule over these days and weeks - LA two weeks ago, New York week before last, england this past week, LA again this week, then off across the pond again for next week. I'd be ripe for a flu in that situation. I'd say his voice is worn down just as he must be - it sounded like it on the Jools Holland show - though I thought he STILL sounded fantastic!!

The man is a trooper - he has REALLY been putting himself about like a maniac in order to make this album a success and do his 'comeback' right. Thats the impression i get - coupled with the facts of the public events these last three weeks. Seems he's not had enough rest to get over the flu he had while filming the video for Irish Blood English Heart.

I can't understand why there are so many people bitching and complaining in these comments. I understand the disappointment - but many of the remarks written here are harsh; childish even - how old are you people that are noting this as the beginning of the end and Morrissey's return to his old ways? I'm not sure what either of those mean but they appear double headed in their nastiness and bitchiness - attacking Morrissey today based on perceptions of behavior years ago.

I agree with the FEW others posting here - give the man a break.

Three days of sleep in your own bed, Vitamin C, lots of water and you'll feel a lot better! Oh and some comfort videos for when you can't sleep - like Wuthering Heights and the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes series DVDs! All that and some SERIOUSLY thick slices of toast! Feel better soon!

    Rock on!

  • Back in 87 or 88 I flew to Miami to visit my sister and to see The Smiths at the Cameo, only to find out "Moz" contracted "laryngitis". Oddly enough, the following night I believe they played their last gig in Tampa which happens to be the event a majority of my friends attended.

Might I ad, the performance of, "The first of the Gang to Die", was brilliant. Morrissey's voice sounds better than ever, and the band played to perfection. I can only imagine what they will perform for us later this week.

Get well Morrissey and thank you and the band for being so fabulous.

  • I am also very curious as to how you got tickets to the Craig Kilborn Show? I called On Camera Audiences over 2 months ago and they told me tickets for the show were NOT available that far in advance. They told me to just keep checking the website and that tickets should be available in a couple of weeks.

Well, I did that...EVERYDAY, several times a day! Then all of the sudden, there it was, posted on the website, the week Morrissey was suppose to be on the show. But all the tickets were gone. I don't get it?

    How did you get tickets?

  • At the very least - Morrissey is a hypochondriac - dozens of cancelled concerts, interviews etc over the years point to this fact.

I have been off work 2 days in 3 years! And my job is a lot less interesting than Moz's. I know that the treadmill can catch up with you, expecially when air travel is involved but come on - Morrissey obviously lacks a bit of steal!

On BBC, the Jools Holland show was totally amazing, the Radio1 sessions were stunning and Morrissey was superb at MEN. If you are in the USA - just be patient and calm down.
