Found that on NME.com - More new Morrissey songs!

MORRISSEY has confirmed to NME.COM details of his new single ’FIRST OF THE GANG TO DIE’.

The song, lifted from the singer’s current album ’You Are The Quarry, is released on July 12 and will be backed by three new B-sides, ‘My Life Is An Endless Succession Of People Saying Goodbye, ‘Teenage Dad On His Estate’and‘Mexico’.

Back when the Quarry (session) songs were listed, many were wondering what happened to Mexico, why it was not on the album, if it would ever become a b-side, etc. In optimism & because many of us thought Moz would not want to disappoint his Latina/Chicana fanbase some said that this song would see the light of day. And here it is! The song is a perfect fit for "First of The Gang" which tells the story of Hector, a young man of Mexican-American decent, as it carries that Mexican theme further along. So, I hope from LON to thousands of others you are happy today. I know that for many people this is their favorite new song.

    Sonrisa.

  • happy day for us fans of "mexico"! but i can sense the hate from those that didn't want the track released. poo on your face, hehehe.

btw, with the release of these 3b-sides means there's only 4 left in the vaults...or from what we've heard. "...daddy's voice" "home is a ?" "slum mums" and "the public image". did i miss any?

  • At least in America (UK will definitely have two versions of the CD, as with IBEH). As the poster above said, this single along with the US ver. of IBEH will be like a two-disc mini-album, which is great.

"Mexico" had lots of time to become polished on stage, so let's see what Finn did with it in the studio.

For many, FOTGTD is (by far) the best song on the album, so it should be a shoe-in for #1 in the UK, besting Morrissey's own recent highest-ever charting with IBEH.

    Good times!
