You can listen to Glastonbury recordings of First Of The Gang To Die and The Headmaster Ritual on the BBC's gargantuan website.

There are also some good close-up photos.

  • Pretty good rendition of FOTGTD. Li'l Barry's playing seems more rough and ready. Reminded me a bit of Bernard Butler's playing. Does Barry write songs -- what's his history? Does he now do the backing vocals, too?

Anybody have news on Alain... Equitorial Guinea perhaps? Will he be back for the rest of the already-confirmed live dates I wonder?

  • check out the British Sea Power live tracks a bit further down the same page. one of them is an unreleased track that'll probably be on their next album. the other, Carrion, is one of their fantastic singles. now go!

  • I love "The Headmaster Ritual," but this version was pathetic! It is disturbingly obvious that Morrissey musicians are not only untalanted, but truly, truly shitty. They are TWO, for God's sake, and still they can't keep up with the things Johnny Marr did alone! Even Morrissey seems quite bored with singing it.

  • Yes, I really like FOTGTD from the Glastonbury performance. I thought that it appeared to be the best received song from the setlist.
I suppose it's quite difficult to perform in the late evening at this type of festival, as many of the crowd are knackered, and a bit lethargic.
I thought the band performed well overall, despite the muted reception that some of the legendary Smiths tunes had....it just never seem's right to me.

Here lies a once great singer, lyricist and performer.

May he rest in peace...urgh, rot in HELL!

  • Quite possibly the most pointless performance in the last 100 years.

Why does he bother? like I said before, vanity and greed.

Roll on the pub circuit in the next 10 years, or perhaps he should be playing in the morecambe punk festival later this month......

  • Did anyone else notice that Moz changed the lyric "bruises bigger than dinner plates" to "bruises as big as dinner plate" as Marr first suggested?
