Sean O'Callaghan writes:

The guitarist playing with Morrissey on the Kilborn show is Jesse Tobias. He is quite well known for playing with Alanis Morissette for several years.

It was while he was touring with Alanis that he met his wife, Angie Hart, the lead singer of Frente. They were supporting Alanis throughout Australia. Jesse and Angie now have their own band called Splendid. They live in Los Angeles and play on a regular basis. You can visit the Splendid site via this link:

Jesse Plays Guitar!
Well, you probably knew that already. But what you probably didn't know is that he's currently playing guitar for Morrissey. Morrissey's standard guitar man is unwell; while we're not sure how long Jesse will be filling this gig, we do know that he will appear with the band on the Craig Kilbourne Show this Thursday, July 22."

  • Sad that Alain is still AWOL. We await your return, lad.

In the meantime, I can't deny that it's interesting to hear different "interpretations" of Alain's leads as played by L'il Barry and now Jesse T. The rendition on Late Night was fantastic!

  • Frente, eh? I remember they seemed very big in Australia about ten years ago - I still remember their song that was played almost constantly in the coffee shop in Neighbours.

  • Is it me or is it great to hear a new guitar influence in Moz's music? Alain is great, but the style is getting a little stale. It was exciting to hear something new for a change on Friday.

  • Its really hard to compare the two in terms of writing ability but playing, I thought that Jesse's little additions to FOTGTD were great and oddly enoupgh, having Mikey and Boz sing the backup vocals sounded better than having Alain do them.

That doesn't mean that Jesse can write a decent song. Alain has written quite a few good numbers.

I would be interested in some new musicians for the next album just for the sake of change.

  • The tapeing of the show was cool, but the dick outside (audience control), was a total ass..and didnt have to act the way he did to the fans that who had been waiting for over 24 hours in line to get in..and who were denied by him...when he could of let them in.

It was great seeing Moz so happy and upbeat. It was even more crazier seeing him at the Cat&Fiddle with the band afterwards....just having a great time laughing and having a great time with the band.

Thankz to Boz Gary and Dean for the conversation in the bar and Thankz to Gary for the huge hugg and picture!!

    P.S.
Dean is going to grow back his "Hawk". =)

  • What exactly IS wrong with Alain? If he's sick then it must be something pretty goddamn bad cos he's been MIA for quite some time now ..

Is he REALLY sick or has he and Moz had a bit of trouble? Or has he had enough?

But then again Morrissey has dedicated a couple of songs to him lately, so I don't think Moz would be doing that for someone he's having trouble with .. Which brings us back to the start, he musn't be well, but to be out so long :( I hope he gets well soon.
