Sir Alf writes:
A friend of mine who reviews music for the BBC received this short message from his contact at Sanctuary Records. Shame about the DVD, that would've been great. And has there been some faltering on what the new single should be..? "There are no plans for a full DVD of the Manchester Arena gig, but personally I'd love to see that happen. Contrary to various reports the next single is actually still TBC, but it does have a provisional release date of Sept 20th." --- Related items:

I was looking forward to this as a Christmas present, I wonder if they might still release a DVD, just not of the MEN gig exclusively? Fingers crossed!

It certainly seemed to get a good reaction at the Move Festival.
A shame if they aren't going to release the DVD, but hardly surprising given past experiences with films that didn't make the light of day (The Alexandra Palace show...The Royal Albert Hall...South With Morrissey). Introducing Morrissey was delayed to the point that I didn't think it'd see the light of day.
And they wonder why the bootleg trade continues to flourish!

looking back, its interesting to see how this list starts off in the exact track sequencing of the album with 'Teenage Dad On His Estate' replacing 'Let Me Kiss You' and 'The Never-Played Symphonies' and 'The Slum Mums' in place of 'All The Lazy Dykes', with no mention of those songs which did make '...Quarry' nor any mention of b-sides 'Munich Air Disaster, 1958', 'My Life Is An Endless Succession Of People Saying Goodbye', and 'Mexico' [which of course debuted live in 2002, well before the studio release] or the oft-played 'Don't Make Fun Of Daddy's Voice' and Raymonde cover, 'No One Can Hold A Candle To You'. it makes you wonder if 'Teenage Dad...', 'The Slum Mums' and '...Symphonies' were at some point slated to be on the album. it also makes you wonder if Morrissey has recorded other gems that we still hav not yet heard of even existing. ieagerly await the release of the three songs confirmed by Jerry Finn to be recorded as well as potential studio versions of '...Daddy's Voice' and 'No One Can Hold A Candle To You' and anything else Our Moz still has up his wonderful sleeve.
