simply find a dvd hack website then check the weekend sales at places like Frye's Electronics or Walmart for a cheap dvd player. get a dvd player that is known to be hackable as listed in the hack website. you'll then be able to change the region to play all dvds. i bought a Digix brand dvd player at Frye's (www.outpost.com) for less than $50, hacked it, now it is region free.

    • Virtually ANY DVD player can be made 'multi-region' these days. Using your search engine(Google, Yahoo etc) put in the exact model code of your DVD player, and the words 'region free hack' or even 'multi-region hacks' and you should be taken to website that will tell you how to hack your DVD player. It'll probably involve using the key-pad on your remote. Always choose Region 0 as this should make your player capapble of playing anything from any country.

This includes people in Britain, you should be able to hack your DVD to play Region 1 discs, therefore you should be able to view 'Oye Esteban' with no problems.

I've had three DVD players in the last 6 years and I was able to hack all three within a few minutes. It really is that easy.

  • I take this is an unoffical release? And yet I can't imagine Morrissey doing new interviews for it, so presume it's full of old TV clips and interviews. Anyone know anything more?

  • What a strange title.
    What is the actual Jewel?
Is it the new Album?..then again, is this a production charting all of Mozzer's career?
This just can't be an official release....surely someone could have come up with a more sensible title and indeed better cover shot than this.

  • Yes, this reeks of unofficial-dom. I wouldn't mind but it only lasts an hour and will probably be packed with nothing we haven't seen before. We see loads of these things come out when an act is having some kind of success. It's basically a cash in on Morrissey 2004 chic. Still, if it's all we're getting it'll have to do.

  • No doubt low budget tapings from his TV appearences in the UK. At least they spelled his name right :)

  • meaning of course that all those above comments about multizone and not worrying are irrelevant if your dear ol' TV can only take an NTSC signal (regardless of whether or not your DVD is "de-zoned or not). Hello to those of you in the U.S. of A. where PAL discs can't be played.
    Anonymous -- Thursday September 09 2004, @10:41PM (#123504)
  • A computer's dvd player can change regions up to 5 times from what I understand...after that you need a region tool to reset to player's count. ALSO...if you have a dvd burner...you can copy to the region 2 disc, convert it to NTSC using another program, shrink it with a program called dvd shrink, and burn onto a dvd-r so you can play it on your household dvd players.

  • How about a live album? I love live albums and he's so strong at the moment - his voice is sounding better than ever and he's definitely getting back into the swing of things. Plus, no extra work for him! Go on...
