During Morrissey’s tours in 1999 and 2002, Sack, the band from Dublin Ireland, appeared as his special guest, and won new fans through singer Martin McCann’s humorous stage antics and powerful vocals, along with the band’s mix of punk-tinged verve and eloquent ballad-style songs.

Morrissey included Sack single “Colorado Springs” in the NME CD “Songs to Save Your Life”.

John Kelly, the presenter of a Irish TV showcase for seasoned musicians, “Other Voices”, recently introduced Sack - “who have been described as Morrissey’s favourite band”.

Last Thursday 19th May, they brought their diverse energetic presence to a delighted audience in Whelan’s Dublin, supported by guitar-rich group Hotel. Sack manager confirmed that they are shortly leaving to tour Germany for several weeks, having been invited by contacts there to compile a new compilation CD based on their previous three albums: “You Are What You Eat”; “Butterfly Effect”, and “Adventura Majestica”. While that is the immediate focus, they have also been working on new material to develop when the German tour is over.

Finally my friend Paul told me at the Whelans gig that his occasional guitarist partner Iarla was holidaying in L.A. recently and bumped into Morrissey partying on the Sunset Strip. Adventura majestica indeed!

Life can only be understood in reverse.
  • They're a shit band, hanging on to Morrissey's coattails with their grubby little fingers for all they're worth.

    This is NOT news.

  • Does anyone know if the band have a new website, the old sacktheband.com address is dead and I thought they had split up.

Cant believe the comment about the band being crap, have you ever listened to the albums?

Hello to Sabine Szlachciak, Stefanie Stamm and the "Unfab Three"
  • This is submitted as a story also for those who've left this one behind, but for anyone still looking in here, a reliable source tells me that the tour to Germany has now been postponed till the Autumn. Details will be posted on the website which is being re-designed and expected to be back online by end June: www.sacktheband.ie . All albums will then be available from there, and also at their next Dublin gig, due to happen over the coming weeks, and to be publicised 1-2 weeks beforehand (as normal). Alternatively, record shops can order them in on request.
    Hope that helps.
