Yet another in the long line of Morrissey referencing pop groups are Pioneers who you probably know do a famous cover of Moz's "The More You Ignore Me...."

Anyhow, I have stumbled across the video as it is now available at www.pioneersmusic.co.uk

It is recorded at Night and Day in Manchester, the scene of the Boz/Marr meeting a couple of months back.

  • All of the bands who cover Moz are usually bobbins.

The tunes on this site are actually, well, tolerable. If a little alright(ish). Oh go on then, I like it.

  • Never heard of this band, but to compare this version to Boz and his pal (from Woodstock) - also available on the internet - is to hear a totally different sound to this mystery.

For me, the acoustic guitar and single voice on Boz's live US recording is stronger (even without the idiot in the audience screeming that he wants Boz to play TMYIM all the time from stage left which made it to the background of the recording.) Still, this is interesting and it is great that they have changed the muscial arrangement and given it a little kick, without having the results come out disasterously and vocals sounding week and light. Can the same be said of there own arrangements ?

  • Didn't really care for it.

But, I must say, it is a true cover. Rather than a regurgitation of a song we already know and love, they put their own spin on it. For example, I always thought Billy Corgan did great covers.

Maybe I just don't care for this band's sound, but from hearing/watching this, I can't say I would want to check them out.

    ...and how?
  • How incredibly hipster and emo, all scruffy looking and ROCKIN' out! (Sniff sniff, smell that? That's SARCASM.)

To quote Blaine and Antoine,"HATED IT!"

I much prefer the intricate arrangement of the original with clean and dirty layered guitars. Most importantly, it didn't have KEYBOARDS! Not that I dislike keys/synths in general, it just seems out of place on "The More You Ignore Me..."

  • For the first time, I've heard the song and truly loved it.

It shows how unimaginative the Morrissey band's version is.

  • I've never liked "The More You Ignore Me.." and I don't really think it gets any better with this coverversion. It's just too slow...
