I know, you sing what you want, but consider opening with "Frankly Mr.Shankly" or "A Rush and a Push and the Land is Ours"!One question, what does one have to do to meet you, other than jumping on stage and making an ass out of themselves? "Disgusting"....see what I mean!!!!By the way you look really good in dark colors!

  • Here's a piccy of the note livenation put up on the fence around the Pall-adium:

    http://www2.gol.com/users/melemail/stuff/CIMG0629. JPG [gol.com]

I'm surprisingly not too put out, though I feel sorry for the gravely disappointed fans. I feel sad for Morrissey that ticket sales were so poor.

Although I am usually inclined to think that cynical people are too quick to accuse MOrrissey of deliberately offending them by falling ill and trying to cover up poor ticket sales, I think this time it is truly a case of poor ticket sales and a silly, bogus official excuse. This is almost as good as 1994's "the band were not sufficiently rehearsed to Morrissey's satisfaction".

I think LiveNation didn't want to put on a show that would lose money. I don't think it was Morrissey himself who engineered the "burst water main". But if his exposed butt crack is anything to go by, Morrissey's the man to fix it! ; p

the plumber story is a nice excuse, but it was foreseen that dates should be cancelled due to
poor ticketsales [tickets were avainble for half the price, as stated on the tour forum]

10 times the Palladium is too much , even for
Morrissey to sell out all of them , touring intensively already, plus 4 or 5 shows in
    Cali also

  • Well I rushed out of work early already wearing thin on my excuses only to hear the news on the 10E in bumper to bumper traffic. Argh! Being a fortunate season ticket holder, I have to admit for selfish reasons I was glad the weekday shows were not selling out. I figured it would make it more intimate for the rest of us. And after making it thru last night's sweaty squish-fest, I solemnly promise to never complain about audience participation again. I got my comeuppance. I was 2nd row deep from the rail Boz-side where we were packed like pickles. Luckily I was mostly surrounded by passionate yet courteous folk and the occasional rib jab & foot to the head by crowd-surfing, stage invader wanna-be's didn't ruin my good time. Last night was pure bliss.

So tonight instead, I had a salad & a beer with some friends I haven't seen in a while and met some new ones at Lucky Devils.

And even though I should be listening to Dear God right about now, screaming like a lust-lorn schoolgirl during the explosive kegs line, I'm at home in Los Feliz drinking a glass of wine posting here. Life goes on friends. And busted water main or not, I could give a shit ... literally. I choose to believe the best in people, our friend Morrissey included. And if he chose to not perform tonight, or Live Nation shoved it down his throat not to .. or, heaven forbid, it is the truth that the tattered old Palladium had a plumbing problem ... regardless of the reason, I choose to still be a supporter, still be a fan and not cast judgment on a situation I know nothing about.

That's just my two cents. See you Friday.

  • I got to the line at four PM and it was significantly shorter than Monday's line. On Monday I got there at three was much farther from the front than I was today.

Some people in the front said that Kristeen Young came out and said the show was canceled due to medical reasons. I didn't believe them because he sounded fine last night. A few minutes later it was confirmed by people from the venue but they didn't explain why so I and others assumed poor ticket sales. Later on, I saw one DWP worker who said it was because of the water main.

So I pretty much have three answers but I'm choosing poor ticket sales. Tuesday nights aren't usually open for everybody (I have school and my sister has work but we're going to all nights anyway :/) and since he scheduled so many dates people must have put off buying tickets.

Whatever. I'll see him Friday. I just feel really bad for the people that were supposed to him tonight and can't go next Monday or Tuesday. They truly were the ones who got screwed.

  • I don't care what the real reason for the cancelled show was...either way, I was so disappointed...so upset. My friend and I left work today from San Diego at 4:15PM and drove in rush hour traffic to LA. We were thanking god for creating carpool lanes. I was stoked to find parking for $4, we ate quickly, and made our way over to the Palladium. I thought we were in the Twilight Zone because it was only 6:45PM and no one was around for miles! We finally asked a security guard where everyone was and he said the show was cancelled. I wanted to cry.

I guess the night wasn't a complete bust. I bargained and got a bootleg Morrissey shirt for $5, I saw one of the actors from Superbad at Amoeba and someone that looked like Laurence Fishburn, and then got drunk at the Abbey. And my friend and I made it back to San Diego by midnight. But wow...I am really sad. Really, truly let down. I don't think it was a coincidence that these shows were being offered at half price and then they were cancelled at the last minute.

  • I suppose those of us who went for the "get 10 shows for the price of 9" now get 6 where their ticket is special. We lose 2 shows and then get 2 where the attendance will be artificially doubled..
I mused months ago, when other shows got moved around and/or canceled, that Moz does this about 15% of the time. We are lucky there are/will be all the other shows (hopefully)!!
He is entitled to have "empti-theateritus"..
He, obviously has never had a, "the show must go on" mentality...
This though, is what makes makes him, him.
HE IS MORRISSEY, and he owes me nothing.
If any of his "antics" drive away any "fans",, it "leaves more Steve" for us when he does play..
I believe if He (Moz), played his cards differently with different management decisions, he may have been as big an act as there is, and over a long period of time. He IS to me and many of you.. As it is, most of us have managed to make it to the front row and gotten a hand shake while he looks strait into only your eyes..
I'm glad he is not bigger then he is.
    Which would you prefer?
See ya'll Fri and Sat, m, tu, th, fri, sa, su..

  • The venue is to be renovated. The busted pipe fix is probably one big waste of money considering it will all be redone when the renovation is going to be done. I'm wondering if the remainder of the Palladium shows will be canceled. But if enough money will be made by the venue to offset the repairs, it may go on.

  • I have heard from sources inside the venue that there was no plumbing issue. It is what everybody is assuming. The shows are been cancelled due to poor attendance. I am so very dissapointed in the way Morrissey treats his fans and the people around him. Think about it, why cancel Thurs. show also couldnt they try to fix whatever so called plumbing issue and if it wasnt fixed by thurs. then cancel the show thurs. Funny how they could tell the plumbing issue would be fixed in time for Fridays show. Ive listened to Morrissey for a very long time and this is not the first time I have been let down, but come on be honest about the whole thing. By the way Morrissey is staying at The Peninsula Beverly Hills, maybe we should all go ask him why???
