  • So if they are supposedly taping this today, does that mean it will be on-air tonight? What time is the show on here in LA?

  • jesus christ, mozzer's got a better social life than all of us put together, sitting in front of our computers and hoping for more news of his whereabouts!

  • Here are guests on tonight's show:

    Monday, April 14
John Waters (Broadway Play, "Cry Baby")
Daniel Lanois (CD, "Here Is What Is")
    Comedian Scott Kennedy

Morrissey is not listed on any other days this week either. I really can't stand to watch this show if mozzer isn't on; this show is HORRIBLE!

  • I was quite pissed when 5 minutes before 3pm, right as I'm out the door to go to the show, I receive an e-mail from the show saying that they had canceled my tickets because the show was overbooked. A friend who was there waiting in line said that someone came out and notified everyone there that Moz had taped his performance and would no longer appear in person. Needless to say, everyone left the line and went home. Now we don't know when his performance will be aired since he's not listed as the musical guest tonight.

  • This makes me miss Craig Kilborn. I'll still watch it though. My guess is that he'll play All You Need Is Me.

  • Here's what has happened to me in the past two days:

    1. Yesterday morning two beloved Moz pals, Doug and Thomas, call me about the taping and assure me they have extra tickets. They are awesome. I get on the Web site for The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and secure a ticket just in case. I notice that Morrissey and John Waters are due to be on the same show! Two great tastes that taste great together.
    2. Yesterday evening I'm informed by the two aforementioned pals that the show might not go on because Morrissey might tape his performance separately, but they will keep me posted.
    3. CBS apparently e-mails ticketholders to tell them that Morrissey will NOT be attending the taping.
    4. Various friends that are waiting in line at CBS studios are told that Morrissey will not be at the show.
    5. I bust my ass to make it to the studio, run up to the gate, and am told by the gentleman checking IDs that "Morrissey won't be here, I think. I'm not entirely sure, so go ask that lady."
    6. "That lady," a P.A. for the show (I presume) then announces to the entire line "if you are here to see Morrissey, he has already taped his set earlier today and will not be on the show. Please leave your tickets with me and we will save your information to secure you priority seating for the next show he tapes with us. We are sorry for the inconvenience, blah blah blah."
    7. Even though I love John Waters, I turn around and go home because I am parked in a place where I will receive a ticket if I'm there for more than an hour, and only seeing Morrissey is worth getting a parking ticket.
    8. I find out at 7:30p.m. this evening that he TOTALLY FUCKING PLAYED "All You Need Is Me" and "Irish Blood, English Heart" at the taping, so NUMEROUS MEMBERS OF CBS STAFF LIED TO US. WTF????????

So mad I could spit bullets,

  • I drove up from San Diego for this (2+ hrs each way, $50 in gas, $22 parking, weaseled out of work for the day) and I am soo glad I didn't leave when they told us Morrissey had already come and gone!! Somehow I ended up in the first row and I totally screamed like a little girl when Morrissey stepped out into the tiny studio. I was so happy I started to cry tears of joy.

Morrissey looked really svelte in his tight American Idol shirt! Super cute. xox

  • For Grace and Mary II:

The Moz fans who stayed for the taping and were the first 20 or so mostly ended up seated on the second bench, so most of them didn’t get put into priority seating. I knew they were discriminating against us Moz nutters (No, we did not look like we were here for gddamned “Dancing wiff da Starz” : p). But ultimately I was placed in a good spot, 2nd row and off to the side on house right (where Moz spent a good deal of the time facing – he saw me right away and gave me a point and wave of recognition). We had to go up several flights of stairs and then were put into 3 queues again. Ed Mendoza came out and acted really nice, joking with a particularly tall irregular regular ; ). Also saw Jesse Tobias go into the toilets before we were led into the studio. We were still worried that despite seeing Mozzer’s personnel, that they might be performing without an audience (us).

Soon we were led into the frigid studio, some cheesy-ass country western music act playing on the monitors. It’s a small theatre, only 113 maximum audience capacity.

Many people wondered why CBS did all that crazy drama with canceling tickets and telling us that Moz wasn’t going to be there. My theory is that they wanted to cull a good deal of the nutters (fans) who follow Morrissey because they’ve proven to be unruly (who must be taken in hand). Those who remember the debacle for NBC’s Tonight Show in ’91 may remember how fans mobbed the studios, were ill-behaved, hooting and cheering over the other guests for Moz, and then left after Morrissey’s segment, leaving the studio bereft of a sizeable portion of the audience. Craig Kilborn’s show (the former host of CBS’s Late Late Show) allowed fans to come, but they did give priority to tourists, normal people off the streets as opposed to fans who came specifically for Morrissey. I think it just comes down to the tv production being able to control the audience and having them stay for the entire taping, nothing to do with Morrissey. A couple of Moz fans left after Morrissey’s musical segment today. I dunno why they left early, but it seems to bolster my point that Moz fans have a bad reputation as extremely partial and ill-behaved audience members (oh excuse me, audience enhancers) in the tv world. I’ve been lied to by BBC personnel, but I was foolhardy enough to stay and was rewarded with a chance to see Morrissey for several hours at a tv taping a couple of years ago. I’m stupid and deaf; I never pay attention to what people tell me.

I noticed the drum kit and guitars set up in the extremely small, cramped stage space. The kick drum had a sparkly gold exterior with REFUSAL spelled out on the face. I became very excited. Who else would have that written on the drum? I know Ferguson doesn’t have a house band either.

I also know that Ferguson’s show shoots out of sequence, with the musical guest always going first in taping so they can measure out the time left for monologue, sketches, and interviews. They also do not tape on Fridays, leaving it free for Ferguson to travel to do standup gigs on the weekend; they typically tape two shows on Thursday. When I checked the tv guide on Sunday, Morrissey’s appearance was scheduled for Friday night, so obviously his bit was going to be pre-recorded on a different day. Some people I told about Morrissey’s scheduled taping were freaking out because they saw Daniel Lanois was the musical guest on Monday night. I figured Lanois’s segment was already pre-taped (he was in town doing a massive promotional hullabaloo last week or week before last). So, that means nothing – Mozzer’s appearance should still be on.

I don’t know if Moz understands the horrible emotional rollercoaster of uncertainty and joy we’ve been on this past weekend and particularly on Monday with a flurry of rumours, text messages, and hearsay about whether it’s on or not, two different queues (turns out the one on Beverly is for Dancing wiff da Stars), if the band is playing in front of an audience, tickets being cancelled, if it’s tru
