From Shawn:

Isobel Campbell of Belle and Sebastian lists The Queen Is Dead under the category of "Things I Like" on her new "side project" Gentle Waves web page. Interestingly, early on in B&S career, the group once covered "Reel Around The Fountain" in concert. Sadly, no tape exists that I can track down.

Comments / Notes

You must also remember the line in the song "Seymour Stein":
“You like Chris’s jacket,
He reminded you of Johnny,
Before he went Electronic”.
Seem that they are really big fans!
By the way, I think that “The Boy With The Arab Strap” is one of the best albums released last year.

and she also picks a taste of honey(film version) which is the most obvious moz influence bar wilde, as well as other british films from the 60s, the records she picks along with the q is dead are rather obscure, and i think those are ones that the B&S singer stu murdoch likes too.

Her album as The Gentle Waves "The green fields of foreverland" is really wonderful. However, it doesn´t sound like The Smiths/Moz at all, it´s more a sweet mix between 60´s pop music and pieces of brazilian music. Really great.

I started to listen to Belle and Sebastian because I heard they were fan of The Smiths. I love Belle and Sebastian now. By the way you should here their ep " 3...6...9 seconds of light".
