I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone when I say: thank goodness *Morrissey* was the non-musical creative force behind the Smiths.

Oh hell yeah Lifegaurd. I couldn't agree more. I always thought Marr's music and Morrissey's vocals and especially lyrics were the greatest combination. By the way, I have never heard of "the Beta band" before but they sound very interesting. Has anyone here listened to any of their stuff? Can you recommend any albums in particular? Anyway, viva Velvet Underground!

Sorry, but the Beta Band are awful. The return of prog rock has to be drowned at birth and I'm afraid they are very much of that ilk.
if you ahve a beard and smoke copious amounts of dope you may like them though.

Then I guess you're not a Smiths fan, Scott.

By the way: is anyone else as annoyed with the name, "Inrockuptibles" as I am? What does it mean, exactly? I keep wanting to see "Incorruptables." Doesn't exactly roll off the tongue now, does it?

I love Marr,
but, by golly, do I hate "obscure jazz" fans--the most tossed about musical taste ever.
