Last leg of the tour begins today in San Francisco

Thanks again to all of those who have contributed information and photos along the way -- I have not been able to keep up with all of it, mostly due to the overwhelming amount of news that has accompanied this tour. Once the tour is over things will settle down (hopefully) and I'll have some time to compile everything together.

Here's an ad for the final leg of the tour which appeared in the L.A. Weekly (Dec. 3-9), pointed out by Moz Head 2000:

New music and label soon?

Anonymously sent:

This is from a friend of mine... Anyone else hear about these rumblings? I talked to someone who got an e-mail from Boz who told him they're very close to signing with someone and can't wait to try out all the new material back in the states.

Cover stars mentioned in Guardian article

From Gladioli:

In the TV supplement of the Guardian last Saturday (Dec 4) the main article referred to British actors of the 60s that the newspaper would like to see back on the screen.

The reason behind such an article was Terence Stamp’s comeback in The Limey (which is out on Friday in the UK). The title is “Rita, come home: 60s stars we want back” (referring to Rita Tushingham). Of course the article is full of Smiths references since most of the actors it mentions have appeared on Smiths sleeves. They mention Terence Stamp of course (“What Difference…?”), Rita Tushingham (“Hand In Glove” feat. Sandie Shaw and “Girfriend in A Coma” video), Colin Cambell (“William…” and the German “Ask”) and the film “The Family Way” from which come the covers for “I Started Something…” (Avril Angers) and “Stop Me…”(Murray Head). The Smiths are inevitably mentioned in relation to Colin Campbell and Terence Stamp. The paragraph reads:

“Colin Campbell’s starring role in The Leather Boys largely comprised him winking and grinning and generally playing the loveable cockney geezer - “cahm awwwn!” and “cor ber-limey!” are his memorable catch phrases. Playing opposite tarty fiancee Rita Tushingham he has real vulnerability and is clearly star material. Then he tutted and blimeyed his way through Saturday Night Out, serenaded by The Searchers as a sailor on the pull, but that was just about it. He at least became the equal of Il Stampo, via immortality on a Smiths sleeve.”

If Morrissey read it I’m sure he was be more than happy with the reference and the fact that the Smiths are associated with these 60s icons.

Seaside, but still docked

From Tony Traverso (new URL):

Check out this really cool band from Norway called: Seaside Yet Still Docked. They have a song on their website called: How soon is life? They have 12 songs available for download. They list as their musical influence's of course The Smiths and Moz as well as The Velvet Underground, U2, Brian Eno, Joy Division, Lou Reed. Their website and MP3 files are located here.

Their music is very beautiful and his voice is very haunting & very Morrissey sounding and I think you will like them. I was just browsing MP3.com tonight and happened upon them.

"Anne Clark und Morrissey" - Discokugelalarm

From Mat:

Just came across an obscure 7-track-CD by a German band called "Discokugelalarm" ("Mirror ball alarm"). I don't know anything about them, but the inlay has a photo with four guys in white shirts and black ties. Anyway, this CD features a song called "Anne Clark und Morrissey". I just got to read the German lyrics and one line went something like "... the world is much darker than any of Anne Clark's songs and life is more desperate than Morrissey ever described ..." Well, maybe they're right ... can't say if their music is good ...
