A message from Alain, now in Belgium / more Vegas in Dec. rumors

From an anonymous source:

After an enforced rest - on doctors' orders - and care and attention from all around him, Alain says his injured back is 'on the mend' and he is looking forward to playing at Deinze on Tuesday night.

The last thing he wished to do was to miss Vegas or any show - because he is enjoying this tour; and out of respect for the fans, for his colleagues and all those involved in making sure everything works out for the best in the best of all possible worlds.

To the disappointed Vegas fans he says "Please don't be blue"... Rumour has it that there will be a couple of shows in Vegas in December to make up for the let down at the House of Blue

Scan of the ticket for the Deinze concert tonight from Steve Perceval (Myth Is Morrissey):

From Daniel:

I spoke to a representative from House of Blues today to see what to do with my tickets. They told me, that the show was in the process of being rescheduled! That's good news, but they also told me that my old tickets are worthless.

Ticketmaster already refunded my credit card and in order to go to the next show, we will all have to buy more tickets. So, a little good news, a little bad news I guess. I'm sure if you call them they will give you the same info.

Coachella reviews (with pics) in L.A. papers

From Matthew Zolan:

FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHT: With many in the crowd sporting Morrissey T-shirts, the performer obviously has a big following.Click image for larger photo.

Here's a very cool report on the Coachella Festival (Orange County Register) that includes Morrissey as one of the highlights. Nice picture too!

"The brightest highlights, however, belonged to Beck and Morrissey, though clearly the crowd would have thought the same of the latter had he merely waved hello. Smiths-wear was the attire of choice at Coachella; easily one out of every five people I saw wore a Morrissey T-shirt.

The typically detached King of the Disaffected was abuzz with excitement, though, obviously energized by the crowd's response. It's not as though Morrissey is musically vital these days — he's long since assumed cult-hero status — but you'd never have guessed it from the roaring readings here, whether of his own material (a bitterly sorrowful "Hairdresser on Fire," a whirlwind "November Spawned a Monster") or the rare Smiths gems ("Meat Is Murder," still laughably heavy-handed, and "Is It Really So Strange?" one of his most underrated tunes)."

From Alli, a scan from the L.A. Times (Oct. 11). No mention of Morrissey in the accompanying article.

Oporto (Oct. 29), Copenhagen (Oct. 24), Spain (no dates), France (no dates) -- more details

Looks like the dates in Spain are not happening. There are no dates listed from Oct. 26-28 on the recently printed tour t-shirts.

I have received many inquiries as to why Morrissey is not playing a date in France during this tour. Here's a possible reason, from Aubry:

As you have probably noticed, Morrissey will tour all European countries except France.

There's a reason. He was to be the headline of the Inrockuptibles festival which occurs in November, but officials from the magazine told us that he was "too expensive" asking for more than 40 000$ per show. They could have done a little effort!

From Rui Alves:

The tickets for the Oporto concert (Oct. 29) went on sale on October 6th.

Info on the Copenhagen concert (Oct. 24) from Carsten Pedersen:

About Morrissey and his former gigs in Denmark (in Danish).

About The Grey Hall - Den Grå Hal (in Danish).

Some general info on The Grey Hall:
Capacity: 1800
Location: the heart of Copenhagen

"Stars In Their Eyes" reports

From Steven:

The dreadful British Saturday night spectacle `Stars In Their Eyes' featured British comedian Harry Hill impersonating Morrissey. Hill sang `This Charming Man' and talked back stage about his admiration for `the underrated genius' Morrissey. It may not have been the best attempt in the world, but at least it was a change from the usual rubbish such as Cher, Sting and Tina Turner.

A brave attempt and exposure to the masses.

From Grant:

On the ITV tv station in the UK last saturday night (9th) there was 'Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes'. As mentioned previously on these pages, the comedian Harry Hill 'became' Morrissey and sung a version of "This Charming Man". Basically, he dressed up with a quiff and hearing aid, waving a bunch of flowers and singing over a bad popped-up version of the song. It was a bit cringy and embarrassing to watch (as this programme always is) but he didn't ridicule the Moz. Before the song, he mentioned how much of a Moz fan he was and how much he enjoyed his music.

I videotaped the performance, so if anyone wants a copy (can't think why they would) they can contact me.

From punkrockchar:

Scroll down past the Coronation Street update to get to screen shots from the aforementioned "Celebrity Stars In Their Eyes" Oct. 9 featuring Harry Hill as Morrissey.
