"One Day" (2009) by David Nicholls - The Smiths mentions

I hear that "One Day" has been adapted for TV on Netflix, so I thought I'd share what I mentioned years ago when the novel was popular. I don't know if TIALTNGO features in the Netflix series. Anyone? The novel "One Day" (from 2009) by David Nicholls (born 1966) which seems to be being read...

Morrissey Central "STEVE WRIGHT, RIP" (February 13, 2024)

This is the truth. The Steve Wright BBC Radio 1 shows had awful music and horrible presentation. I have recently leapt across the the kitchen on a Sunday morning to save myself from hearing the banalties on radio 2. It seems that Morrissey simply now likes anyone who plays his tunes. Seems a...

Both Quarry anniversary events cancelled (January 25, 2024)

Surely Moz needs to call Boz, say "soz", and get the Quarry shows on again.

Greg Davies (UK actor/comedian) on Suedehead (the song he wishes he'd written) and Morrissey's current 'beliefs' (April 21, 2023)

But, but, Greg, those words were mostly stolen from Joan Armatrading's "The Weakness In Me". Genius!!

    Strange/unexpected Moz references?

In today's edition of BBC Radio 4's "In Our Time" on Stevie Smith, Professor Will May references Morrissey as a fan at 40:25, saying that she had fans "as varied as Ali Smith, or Morrissey and Jeannette Winterson". Morrissey-Solo Wiki/ From Autobiography:

"Morrissey – from pioneer to pariah" on P3 (Swedish radio documentary - February 14, 2023)

Have I ever mentioned that singing "London is dead, London is dead" to 29,500 pissed-up Madness fans in London antagonised them a bit? They took it as an insult.

Billy Fury cover story in Vintage Rock magazine (issue 61, Feb/Mar 2023) - Morrissey mention

Boz Boorer's 10-inch get's reviewed later in the same publication. He's released a new Record, 'Back to Neo'.

Justin Hawkins YT: “Is His Behaviour Unforgivable?!” (Commentary on the Greek Theatre Show)

Is there some rule about a show that if you done X songs or Y minutes, the booking is considered to have been fulfilled and there is no requirement to reschedule or refund?

Unherd article by Alwyn Turner: "How Morrissey Revived the Union Jack" (August 8, 2022)

A Mancunian singing "London is dead, London is dead" to an audience of mostly Londoners on a bill featuring other Londoners did not go down well. Who'd have thought?

Morrissey Central "Turning The Inside Out." (July 5, 2021)

'Sure enough the telephone rings / who wants my money now? / otherwise the telephone never would ring' I'm looking forward to another great song about taxation and how Morrissey's money is being taken from him. Such a great source of lyrical inspiration! Does he have a GoFundMe page yet?

Morrissey Central "PAINTINGS AT THE LOUVRE, 2020" (Sep. 16, 2020)

Just stumbled across another reference to Joey Barton on Wikipedia. I had no idea of this previously: " Anthony Delano Walker (21 February 1987 – 30 July 2005) was a Black British student of Jamaican descent who was murdered with an ice axe by Michael Barton (brother of footballer Joey Barton)...

Interview with the Fifth Smith, Craig Gannon - C-86 Show

Of course he can hear the difference but he can't admit it. The Fifth Smith took some money off of Morrissey & Marr for Ask. I'd say that's the problem.

Morrissey Central "BORN SORRY" (August 19, 2020)

Oh dear, presumably Morrissey will have spent more than 183 days in the UK and so will have to pay tax to HMRC. What a punch in the guts.

I'm interested to know what badges he was wearing in Leeds. From photos it looks like the second one down was a Lou Reed one? Any others identified?

Morrissey Central: Blue Rondo A La Turk

I probably have far too much time on my hands. Usually the Blue Rondo a la Turk (Band) Wikipedia page gets fewer than fifty hits a day. On 27/5/19 it had 274. What's going on??!!
