Eternal indie icon - pride of Manchester

A bedroom-trained recluse with limited experience in local punk bands, Steven Patrick Morrissey finally seized his moment in the summer of 1982 when he formed The Smiths with Johnny Marr. Their five-year arc saw his voice blossom, delivering sublime pop tragedy (and comedy) with a dry, Northern timbre under-scored by twangs of Irish ancestry. Even now, the 'Pope Of Mope' continues to turn his isolation into mass adoration.

John Lydon, Roger Daltrey, Bono - better singers than Morrissey?

John Lydon, Roger Daltrey, Bono - better singers than Morrissey?

i think their formula for determining 'Greatest' singer includes level of popularity, as well as, good singing. Kurt Cobain? Mick Jagger? Bob Dylan? i enjoy their music but are they great singers? Not as much as Morrissey, but they were more popular.

for bob dylan to even BE on that list...that's ridiculous. i know, you know, he knows- he can't sing. that doesn't meant he still can't be a "singer"...but NOT one on greatest singers list.
blah.
