I don't know man, he's a great drummer, and perhaps it is the fact that Morrissey and Marr were always the ones people payed attention to the most whereas Joyce was on the back, I kinda relate to him on that. I know I make absolutely no sense.

I couldn't care less about this band member. There is something untrustworthy about this chap.
I don't think the smiths would have been any different with another drummer.
He isn't a personality like Ringo and he hasn't the skill of Rene from the Roses.
He got his money though, fair play to him- though he didn't deserve it

Honestly with Marr and Morrissey...they needed Joyce!
His personality was more laid back and that's what they needed in the band...Joyce was also quite comical as you can see in all of the videos and he loved to have a laugh!

Drum patterns aside. One drummer is as good as the next,in the main, he wasn't anything special.
The best one could say is that he was solid. Where as with the others you think fantastic singing,guitar and bass.
But what song has fantastic drumming?
It was Moz who said marr wrote some of the drum patterns.
