Madness stars still angry over Morrissey gig walkout - Daily Express

MADNESS stars GRAHAM 'SUGGS' MCPHERSON and CHRIS FOREMAN are still annoyed singer MORRISSEY walked out of their 1992 reunion shows because the incident cast a shadow over the band's comeback.

The former The Smiths frontman was invited to perform on the bill at the two-day 'Madstock!' event in London but he cut short his first set when he was pelted with bottles and coins by the crowd, and he subsequently pulled out of his second slot the following day.

In the days following the concerts, media coverage was dominated by speculation about Morrissey's cancellation and some members of Madness are still upset that the incident cast a cloud over their hotly-anticipated reunion, six years after they split.

When asked if Morrissey's walkout ruined the event, frontman McPherson tells Q magazine, "Not as much as he hoped it would!"

Guitarist Foreman adds, "It was a shame because it was a really big thing for us."

This site has a very lenient moderating policy.
What is wrong with moderators express their honest opinions?

Well, he's constantly being rude and hateful, for starters. And so are many people here. Why is this okay? Why not strive towards being civil and intelligent instead? Honest, open, yet civil and balanced?

This site is a mad house, full of deviants that are bringing everybody down, with moderators telling everyone who raises his/her voice to "f*** off" and "I don't give a f*** what you think". What kind of a message is shit like that sending out? Come on now.

Skinny is a wondeful moderator. All the naysayers simply want to suppress common sense.

You don't like it? You're free to f*** right off. I mean, heaven forfend anything should puncture your fluffy world-view of the Moz situation. You don't like that some people disagree? Tough shit. Some people disagree.

P.
You have got to be kidding answering a poster like that!? You my not-friend have lost the plot... It WAS over 20 years ago after all, nothing at all wrong with the OPs opinion. You have too much to say over very little, you hate Morrissey & his fans in general & its the likes of you that puts members like myself off coming here as your bile is everywhere...

Why don't you Please f*** OFF Uncleforeskin. Its OK for "the skinny" to tell others to f*** RIGHT off, so here is a member telling you!

(saved a PDF as me telling skinny to F.O. will prob get taken down)

At the time British Geological Survey thought there had been a minor earthquake in London, but it was Madstock. True story, apparently.

I don't blame Morrissey for pulling out if he was having coins thrown at him, and it was a pretty safe bet it would have happened again. These days he'd stay and collect them for the poor, of course.

Would you say you behave impeccably, Gregor, because I've seen plenty of instances where you have not.

We can all strive to be honest, open and civil, but as long as certain peoples' idea of balance is craven pandering to Morrissey regardless of his behaviour it is unlikely to be maintained. Some months after its release I consider World Peace to be a musical and lyrical. disaster. That is my honest, open and civil opinion. The abuse that routinely follows that opinion is none of the things you claim to aspire to, and although marred, BPBTP and more recently Don Surfacio are in the vanguard you've occasionally leapt in too.

TL;DR: Buy a mirror.

It's the Daily Express, the right wing rag owned by pornographer Richard "Dirty" Desmond, I wouldn't trust them to print the right date.

I would agree that the album is disappointing but the tracks played live were infinitely better.

I don't give a f*** what you think. And what are you going to do about it? Reply?

When people rightfully criticize you, you could actually consider what they're saying and change something about your behaviour, instead of telling them to f*** off. Really, a lot of your behaviour is inexcusable. And no, you can't change that by telling me to f*** off.

When has Moz ever taken constructive criticism>LOL
are you guys for real?

Madness are rubbish, Two Tone band wagon jumpers who played karaoke ska for 5th Form faux skinheads in Last Resort T-Shirts. Now they are a national institution … go figure. They never stepped up to the plate to stop Fascists attending their gigs, simply sat on the fence and road the wave to the Top Forty. I can't believe Morrissey was enamored with these guys …

Ahhh the irony. Uncleskinny clearly isn't a fan of Morrissey the man anymore (and maybe even the music.) In fact he clearly loathes him and often sites Morrissey's nastiness as a reason for that stance. Fair enough I guess, but what's funny is the guy has to be one of the nastiest posters on here. His language is appalling with the shortest of short fuses. There is a nastiness, particularly if your viewpoint differs from his that comes off as borderline unhinged. Does he not stop to take stock of this?

'Morrissey's an arsehole. What you dare to disagree with me? Well then why don't you f*** off!'

Honestly if it wasn't tragic it'd be quite funny. Kewpie I understand that this forum has a somewhat looser set of parameters regarding the behaviour of moderators than some other sites but that doesn't necessarily make it a good thing. I would hope a moderator takes the role seriously and attempts to act with some type of decorum and dignity, not looking to stir up confrontation with their hateful tones. You would also hope that a moderator is someone that wants to set the standards and raise the bar rather than devolve down to the lowest common denominator. I do accept that the job can be a taxing and at times unrewarding one but I also equally believe that due to it's stressful nature it also comes with a shelf life and after a certain period of time a moderator should relinquish their duties or at least step away for a break. Kewpie and Skinny have been doing this too long now (IMHO) and it shows in the quality of their moderating. They are not contributing to the growth of these forums only hindering it and causing members to walk away. It's a shame but nothing will change.

And yes, I fully expect to be told to 'f*** Off!' by Skinny when he reads this.

that those slamming skinny, while fawning over fat moz and his tirades, are hyprocrites, of course.

Rubbish. That old "Morrissey is nasty so why can't I be nasty too" argument would only be valid if Morrissey slagged off Nico while stating that he likes her earlier stuff. It's not rocket science man.

Not true. There is a shit-ton of censorship that goes on here.

One wonders if the moderator is expressing an honest opinion or unleashing a 'scrip-fueled tornado of frustration with his station in life.

- and you are guilty of exactly the same bullshit: the trolls and mods present a polarised choice - if you don't sneer, you must be a fawning 'Moz-can-do-no-wrong' idiot. That's a mendacious premise and they (and you) know it.

I don't know Tseng & Co didn't just take over PJM when Stephane was talking about calling it a day. They clearly have no interest in what Morrissey is doing now so "Morrissey-Solo" seems a bit of a misnomer given that they only seem to rate The Smiths and the very early part of Morrissey's solo career.

Re: Article: "Madness stars still angry over Morrissey gig walkout" - Daily Express

Yes. Acting like an asshole is completely justified as long as Morrissey does it too.

We're all assholes. Some of us are just better at hiding it.

How is it you can squeeze "mendacious" into a post and not be aware that literally EVERY bit of Morrissey news is reported daily on the mainpage?
