New Morrissey song played on BBC radio (with disclaimer) + Morrissey ridiculed on BBC R4 show

Long-term Morrissey/Smiths fan indie DJ (and TV bloke from the 80s), Gary Crowley, played River Clean on his BBC Radio London show a couple of nights ago. Said "I love this track" and was alerted to it by a couple of people (implying he hadn't bothered with the album). At the end he said (paraphrase) "that's a great track... if you can ignore all the other stuff about him".
Radio 4 comedy show tonight 6:30pm - comedian talked about how we breathe in billions of atoms in our lives. Probably the same ones that made up Oscar Wilde and Adolf Hitler - "that would explain Morrissey" (cue the biggest laugh of the evening).
That's where we are folks in 2020. Morrissey has become a cultural byword for the far right and racism. And when presenters do dare to play his latest songs, they apparently need to issue a disclaimer. Bit odd to think that some people claim he's turned a corner...

That really the best you got? Go support your pedophiles some more
You don't seem to be able to operate the quoting system on here either. Therefore I think we can safely dismiss any accusations of paedophilia you might start throwing around to divert attention away from your inadequacies.

upset because someone is standing out for the racist party For-Britain? Give us a break pls.

its the small% of you that wont accept that your GOD has turned a racists

Morrissey is a strong man that stands up to social shaming that media and it's thoughtless followers subscribe to. Mass immigration, open borders, globalism are all terms for ways to destroy nation's and their culutal identities

You're a clown that has two accounts thumbing yourself up. Pathetic behavior. If you're a female, you don't have any actual man in your life. Female trolls are gross

Stick your nation up your butt , rightwinger

Picture book ....... Oh my has so many memories for me.... probably in my top 10 albums of all time...., sad old red ..... they have had more comebacks than Frank Sinatra.....
They are a fine band CazBaz, and Picture book is a good album. I remember Simply Red opening the 1996 Euros football tournament with ‘We’re in this Together’ and thinking how it paled the ‘Three Lions’ song.

In time, they might well be remembered (given the longevity of the outfit) as The Greatest Manchester band. Though I could make a good argument for The Bee Gees.

There cannot be a nonracist supporter of For Britain or Waters. Period. Not to mention anything else. They stir up hatred of Muslims by playing on people's fears, and advocate the "white replacement theory" which we only dreamt was long dead.

It is not up for debate whether or not Morrissey holds racist views. The only thing to do now is work out how that affects you if at all. I still listen to V&I. Yawn.

Nissar Hussain - a Pakistani ex-Muslim apostate - supports and does promotional content for For Britain. Does that make him racist against himself?

Disclaimer: I don't support For Britain myself, I'm just pointing this out.

Also re: the previous conversation about Brexit and left / right - the true left-wing position would be to leave the EU because the EU is pro-capitalist / anti-socialist. That's why Corbyn, Tony Benn, Dennis Skinner, etc. were all anti-EU.

You're not paying attention to the journey she went on from the secular left all the way to a belief that there's a Globalist conspiracy to dominate Europe via immigration.

We're going to keep losing people if you just blanket dismiss them as racist, no debate.

We need to deal with the issues that set them off in that direction.

Pretty much every party now as a lunatic fringe, For Britain just happens to be all lunatic.

And Hovis Lesley, that’s why he was pro-Brexit. Not that he has ever believed it’s really going to happen.

When is the leadership winner to be announced, Nerak?

Why do you two have these long drawn out discussions that never amount to anything? Neither of you will ever agree, or even agree to disagree. The only positive thing that comes out of this is Mrs Surface gets a break from you.
Poor Mrs @Surface. I wonder if she gets to hear about Morrissey's record sales three or a dozen times a day?

I thought it was a shame that Labour abandoned Lexit for a fudge - it's difficult to sell 'we'll do the same but for different reasons', but at least people know that you intend to do something.

Corbyn was pretty boxed in, but in principle I didn’t really see the problem with what he was offering. At least he would’ve laid out what Brexit was actually going to mean; that’s something that should’ve been outlined from the start by Cameron (in my opinion). Still, a meaningful Brexit has never looked further away.

It was the timeframe. New Labour was intensely pro-EU so we hadn't made a left-wing case for Brexit in decades & then suddenly we had weeks to convince people that there was a non-racist case for leaving, having told them that every UKIPer was a Nazi.

Plus a lot of us just couldn't see how it would work. There isn't a blueprint. So it became a faff.
