Someone remastered the "Some Girls..." only live performance, and it sounds awesome!

Wonderful. If I I start to doubt how great The Smiths were then I'll listen to this.

Thanks for posting.

The Smiths perform "Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others" for the only time live at the Brixton Academy, London 12th December 1986. This live version appeared as a b-side to the 1987 single "I Started Something I Couldn't Finish" and was wonderfully remastered from the best/earliest possible source to avoid modern mastering techniques which crush the dynamics.

Does anyone have all those remastered tracks from the blog and care to share?

Am I being a wee bit dense here - isn't the proper recording already out there, on the Handsome Devils release (and elsewhere) - was that recording crappy compared to this remaster, vice versa, or the same?

The original sound source is Grant Showbiz's soundboard recording that was used on the B-side of the I Started Something I couldn't Finish single. Looks as though that has been dubbed over the bootleg video. There are similar 'Rank' bootleg DVD's out there now with the full dubbed sound from the live album. The rest of the concert, the final one at Brixton, I'm sure has never been available in full from the Grant Showbiz soundboard source. He must have loads of these gigs, he was known to record a lot of gigs.

Well this is from the Handsome Devils release. My ears can rarely tell the difference from original to remastered things but others out there may. Adding it to the video is cool though. Getting stuff to sync is a pita.

For those interested Soundville Steve's audience version of the video is available for download on Smiths Torrent at http://www.smithstorrents.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2367 or to view on Youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S23YwjYMWz8

You should be able to find them over at smithstorrents.co.uk, they were there a while back.

I was a bit surprised to see this lyric dismissed by the guy interviewing Johnny Marr on here a week or two back as being a waste of a great tune. I think it is a lot more sophisticated than that.

Some bands are better than others. Excellent work and thanks for the link.

And if I may add the next line !

"Some bands guitarists are better than other bands guitarists"

Thank you

Listen to this, compare with Morrissey's solo chuggers, pub-rockers and ham-fisted journeymen....and cry.

Thank you, just what I needed after getting back from the pub......................send me the pillow
