Strange/unexpected Moz references?

Oh, most of the news I read nowadays are a selection personalized by the infamous algorithms... They show up in a screen of my phone, but it's not exactly like an app... and it is obviously heavily influenced by what you search in google. So I end up with a selection of local news about: Morrissey, Contemporary Art, Classic Films, Literature, Tibetan things, Cats, sometimes indie music and quite often Freemasonry (which is weird for me... I have no interest in Freemasonry, but my phone or google decided that I do, so I end up getting news about Freemasonry, but specially Freemasonry in Spain... which is even weirder, because I obviously don't live in Spain).

The most useful "news" I got recently were several reports of the same study that says that if you look ay your cats and you squint your eyes and then you blink very slowly (as if you were falling asleep), then that is more or less like a huge smile in the language of the cats... so the cats really like it. I tested it with all my cats and it's funny... each time I do it, they meow and they walks towards me in a playful way.
También tuve la misma noticia en my feed! Y ni siquiera tengo gatos...

This podcast was entirely about Morrissey and how his move politically to the right is very typical for men of his age and origins. They look for evidence of why in the recordings and interviews from the time of the Smiths. They all agreed that Viva Hate was solo Moz' only good album, but some of the solo albums had good covers. This half-hour podcast is apparently the short version, you need to pay to get more content.

It was ageist, classist & badly researched.

How could anyone seriously look at Morrissey over the past ten years & think that was a typical 'move to the right'???

He's been banging on about gender fluidity, feminism, self-determination & abolishing abattoirs. 🙄

Another Morrissey question on Ken Bruce's Popmaster this morning, contestant was asked according to Morrissey's 1988 hit, what was everyday like and he correctly answered Sunday! 👍

Wasn't skinny then, he'd have got that one wrong! :lbf:

Brief mention at the start of this:

Do they also say "Ouija Board"? Because I've noticed most say "Spirit Board" for some reason.
Perhaps a certain S.T.E V.E.N trademarked the name...? 😉

I have a nice serving plate with ouija board decor that I use for fruit in autumn.

Just checked the story and its Spirit Board on the product but the story says Ouija Board. Seems like folk in the paranormal field are fuming that Poundland had these on sale explaining how dangerous they are and are not toys. The story is on tabloid websites.

All I want to know is why it always says "Spirit Board". 🧐
Might have to investigate.

Article on the new movie "Summer of 85" - interesting quote about trying to get the rights to a Smiths song.

"...the soundtrack is packed with radio hits of the 80s – the first half of the decade, anyway. One of them was supposed to be “This Charming Man” by The Smiths. “I tried! The singer – what’s his name? – Morrissey was OK, but the guitarist (Johnny Marr) was very difficult. He asked for so much money! So in place of ‘This Charming Man’, I put in ‘Cruel Summer’ by Bananarama. So it was all OK."

Nooooooooooooo!

A Morrissey song should be in a Francois Ozon film.

Especially since "sunny, sad gay romance" kind of sums up This Charming Man perfectly too.

Ha ! And some folks here say that Morrisey is only in it for the money, but obviously not.

Johnny don’t be so greedy.

The phrase "the guitarist (Johnny Marr)" made me giggle.
For some reason, I never think of Johnny as "the guitarist".
