"Beatles’ Penny Lane “in danger of being renamed” if slavery links are proven

It's yet to be confirmed that the iconic address was named after slave trader James Penny.

So, what about The White House? Are they going to tear it down?

"The main residence, as well as foundations of the house, were built largely by enslaved and free African-American laborers, as well as employed Europeans."

Don't you see the difference between "being named after a slave trader," and "being built by slave labour?"

New U.S. currency will be the Dollar Bill S. Burroughs.

Are you saying that 'The White House should stay up as it was built by slaves and that's fine, as their masters got paid. But the possible naming of a street after a slave trader is way worse'?

No.

Well, maybe they'll just settle for "contextualizing" it, by renaming it BAD PENNY LANE or perhaps PENNY BLACK LANE.

It's not a question of which is worse, it's a question of which can be more easily rectified and which could be said to be commemorative of people involved in the slave trade. A public memorial to a slave trader, whether it be a statue or a street name, can be removed and/or altered in a matter of hours. Knocking down the White House is an endeavour that would cost tens of millions of pounds and wouldn't actually achieve very much because it's not as if the building celebrates or commemorates slavery or someone who was a slave trader.
I think you'd get more support for the idea of demolishing the White House if you could contrive some way to ensure that Trump remained inside whilst the wrecking balls were swinging.

So, which is worse? Naming streets after slave traders or The White House, as that was built by slaves? I'll also include statues of slave traders and racists to that question.
Time for the nonsense to stop, the problem with protests is that they always turn nasty & violent. Both sides need to get their brains intact and back down from the chaos they're causing as it's only achieving unrest and nothing else. Pulling statues down and behaving like wild animals has killed any reasonable points they may have had. All Lives Matter!
