I was in Junior College looking to get my associates degree which I eventually did and transferred to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in August of the same year. I thought I would be free of the tyranny of the man I had come to refer to as my "man friend." Turns out he decided to talk me into having him follow me there. I had a part-time and weekends job at Irvine Sci-Tech Books, a technical bookstore that catered to UCI. I was in an English class at Irvine Valley College and proposed the following idea for a paper:
I slept at home at my dad's house, though every waking hour I was in the presense of my "teacher" who told me what to say and how to think and what to write and so on. All my art projects became his, my papers became his conquests, my ideas were not as superior as his. At night, my only peaceful time due to the strains of having to please him, I'd go home and usually slept constantly, listened to my walkman. Sometimes I'd quietly, you know. They were difficult times, just the beginning of the worst times, and I had one consoling place to go, my dreams. Or my work, quite far from my home, would present for me at least 35 uninterrupted minutes to go to my safe place in my brain, a place that wasn't zombiehumping or "YOU ARE A WORTHLESS HUMANBEING." Just my safe place.
