I thought that as well when I heard the announcement. By now, everyone who wants World Peace probably already has it (either a physical or digital copy). It would be nice to get it back on streaming platforms but it seems like he needs a record deal to do that as well - unless there is another...
I don't say this as a criticism because I think he's earned it - but yes, he's more concerned with the prestige of a major label than actually releasing his music.
"I’m excited to be joining Lol Tolhurst, Budgie, and Jacknife Lee for their show tonight"... doesn't say he's drumming for the entire tour. Maybe he is... but going by this statement... not necessarily.
Even if they could have found someone with anything close to Johnny's talent - it's much harder to imagine someone who could step into that dysfunctional environment and make it work. Morrissey would probably expect the new person to do everything Johnny did - that is - everything that...
Sad but not really surprising... both bands care way more about what their fans want to hear, play much longer shows, and don't cancel repeatedly with no explanation/apology.
I agree with you but Morrissey seems quite proud of Veronica so he probably won't part with it. I think the biggest hurdle is that, as his last statement mentioned, he remains unsigned.
I think what you said is spot on. But I still believe that if he came out with some truly brilliant music and I mean much better than what I heard on BOT or WMTWD... much would be forgiven/overlooked. Of course, even if he does and gets a new record contract - he's going to have to stop the...
"George Lucasing of the back catalog" is a great way to put it. IF there was a need to change the cover other than altering the color of the original (think TQID reissue) - there are so many better pics from the 1992 era to use. I disagree that Morrissey looked his best during this 2006 era.
Given all the cancelations last year and in January with no explanation... short of reuniting the 1992 band and playing the full Beethoven setlist... truthfully, is anyone all that excited about these shows?
Agreed, an odd choice not to release Beethoven in the US then. Your Arsenal reportedly sold 360,000 copies in the US - this would have sold very well. Many hardcore fans probably bought on import but I'm sure many didn't.
It's two people with zero chemistry singing a love song (and from what we've heard, didn't even like each other)... and that's how it sounds. It's one of those things where I wanted to like it more but just couldn't, and this was at a time when I loved everything he did. Surely there could...
I don't think he'll do this without a record deal. Otherwise, he could have already put WMTWD on streaming services. But hang tight I was skeptical but I think there is a release plan and that's why he bit the bullet and purchased his albums back.
Could be... all those posts about how much Morrissey has lost it with this cover, and we don't know if he had anything to do with it or was even consulted.
