Thank you for posting. Great to hear this stuff.
Andy Rourke clearly showing how great he is / was. Shame we can't hear more of Johnny but I guess funky bass is what they were all about.
That's unfair. I agree with many in that Jesse isn't my favourite Morrissey co-writer but to imply that he can't handle playing Alain's song is rubbish, he can certainly play guitar.
He is singing Trouble Loves Me so I can't be a concious thought to exclude Alain's songs.
It's probably just a case of Morrissey wanting to promote his latest work, most of the songs are from World Peace and when you throw in a few Smiths songs there isn't a lot of room to fit in.
Re: Why so anti-Tobias Oh, that´s why.
I think this is true.
I believe Alain was / is a tremendous songwriter and Morrissey has missed his work very much. I don't think Jesse comes anywhere near Alain when it comes to compositions, his work on World Peace is his best as I don't really care...
I have to say i really like playland (his 3rd solo album, why do we forget boomslang? Oh yeah, because it is pants and johnny want us to forget it) but i agree the music wouldnt really suit morrissey anymore.
Morrissey has cancer : Daily Mail report
They are quoting Morrissey from his recent interviews in Spain and Portugal.
Obviously very unpleasant to read, i didnt think too much of ut when i first read the Morrissey interview but they do seem to make a story out of it...
I prefer the 2009 edition.
I just can't stand Roy's Keen and anything that includes "The edges are no longer parallel" get plus points from me - love that song.
I dont think vicar in a tutu is that great. It works ok on record but have you heard a live version, its all over the place, it sound like the band are all playing a different song!
I agree with you on this, I think Morrissey has been extremely loyal to his solo musicians and he won't simply drop them.
Does working with Marr and Rourke have to be an exclusive thing? There would be nothing to say that Morrissey couldn't tour and release as a solo artist after doing...
I cant see Morrissey ever wanting a reunoin. For one he is extremely loyal to his current band and wouldnt do it to them. The band are his friends, he clearly respects them as musicians and i truly dont believe he would see them cast aside for him to work with people he doesnt like.
I do blame promotion the general strategy.
The wrong singles were chosen, they werent proper singles and general promotion was just too little too late.
My mate at work is a casual morrissey listener and he didnt even know a new album was being released.
I doubt the issue would be about the split, it is about the court case. Morrissey was clearly badly hurt by the way 2 and then 3 of his friends turned on him. Johnny also let morrissey take all of the flak.
Marr would have to apologise for that.
