30 Bucks! That's pretty steep.

Ban The Convention!!! It is ridiculously overprice and its a bad excuse to exploit morrissey and make a few dollars off of his talent.

The convention is an awesome venue to go and listen to The Smiths and Morrissey. Sweet And Tender Hooligans kick ass, I highly recommend it. Besides its a time when Shoplifters Unite and Take Over. PEACE!

How do you spell gyp, jipe, gype, oh well you know what I mean

jipe

$30 is a bit steep but I do think it's worth it because you get to be in the company of hundreds of Morrissey fans, and hear the music of "Sweet and Tender Hooligans" I will be there.

This event unfortunately lost it's relevance after the first one..."re-issue, re-package..re-package" How prophetic!

Hey, jipe, I believe it's "gyp." Are you aware that it's an unflattering racial reference to gypsies? Next time you think someone's ripping you off, just call them a jew. It's easier to spell.

Ok people listen up. I have been to every one of the conventions and have had an unbelievably excellent time at every one. $30 for 2 days is only $15 a day - for 6 hours of non stop Smiths and Morrissey each day. In Hollywood you can pay $12.00 to get into a crappy club where you won't hear any decent songs. I don't belive it's a rip off at all. You know what, if you don't like it, don't go - we don't care - you won't be missed - but you'll be missing out.

I threw a Smiths/Morrissey convention in college and it was only a buck to get in plus you received a free button. I had more fun there than I did at the Official Morrissey convention

yeah..30 bucks..pretty steep. I went last year, it was way lame. I dont' know about you..but to pay 30 bucks to hang around a bunch of people trying to look like Moz is ridiculas. Whats even more lame is watching a band that covers Moz songs?? Come on...how can anyone love this band? Who has the right to come on stage and act like they are the Moz and company? Oh..and the look alike contest tops it off. Get a life people..where is your individuality.

A convention? What's the point if you own all the albums & seen all the photos? Didn't they have a Depech Mode convention a couple of years ago? What have we been reduced to....

Everybody I went with (6 People) had a blast at the last one-Stay home if you can't let yourself have fun. As for the ticket price, I have no problem with it- I know I'm gonna have a really good time & spend time with the best fans in the world! See all you Moz fans there, Look for the guy wearing the James Dean t-shirt and dancing his ass off!!

pathetic.... These conventions blow ass. Shame on HOT ROCKS, Richard Blade, KROQ and whoever else that try to make money in the name of Morrissey...

If these conventions were once every 4-5 years, they would be special...

But they are every year, and they are expensive.
SAVE YOUR MONEY.... Buy 3 CDS instead...

You guys piss me off. I find PATHETIC that you would rather sit in your smelly little bedroom or do what ever it is you would probably do every other week of the year instead of getting together with loads of other fans to celebrate the music and The Man. And incase you haven't noticed, nothing decent is free in this world and no one is forcing your lonely "be on your own while the rest of us are having fun" sorry ass to go -SO DON"T - believe me, no one will miss you.

I went to the very first Morrissey Fest in 92 and the next one in 93 and they were both awesome! They have somewhat changed since then but they are still worth it. Morrissey likes The Sweet And Tender Hooligans so I dont know what all you knuckleheads are complaining about. And to the person who said that they had a Morrissey Fest at their college: Of course you enjoyed it, you threw it! someone had to have a good time. Just go to the convention and enjoy yourself....I promise you that you will have a great time. And people dont talk crap about Hot Rocks....I used to shop there all the time...Ray is a Big morrissey fan. As for KROQ.......Well

Let me just put it this way....

I came up on 6 smiths shirts - "FREE"

2 Posters - "FREE"

1 Chicks phone number - "Costly"

but i did enjoy all the ever so cool sounds of Morrissey and Smiths songs. Take it from me...go and have a good time. Lots of rarities for hard core moz fans that have to have that particular import single or live concert bootleg. Who ever takes my advice...well i'll see you there.

I don't discriminate: I think you are all crazy.

$30 to see a Smith's coverband?!?!? I saw Blur for $8.

And frankly, I have to wonder about those who about to pee on themselves for potentially seeing SATH while Morrissey is in the exact same part of the country now and giving a live performance at this very moment.

The conventions are a LOT more than the Sweet & Tender Hooligans. If you didn't have that pickle up your ass you would know that!!!

sorry..but..I have not one once of respect for a band who covers Moz's songs..and I know your just not paying to see them. I have been to the convention 3 times..and everytime I go..I ask myself, "why". Not this year..I am putting my foot down. If you like paying for overpriced "rareities" then go. Last..I might add, how can you contribute to something that Moz will never see a penny of? Useing his name to make a buck is wrong. Oh and I just love all the idiots that try there very best to look like Moz..give me a break.

The convention is worth your $$$$, you can get
stuff there, that is very hard to get your hands
on.
Sweet and Tender .... are the bomb, they put on
a faboulous show. (Also very cool to kick it with, and conversat with).
So if you love to listen to Morrissey and
The Smiths, all night, you'll be hated for loving
such a good event! So don't be cheap, GO and have
a good time! C-Ya there

P.S.
Hi Hooters, tell the guys no dates this year, and
tell your friend that lives in the mountains now, to leave his ugly girl at home this time.
His eyes will be on me all night, just like last
year!

Just a small correction..the first Smiths/Morrissey convention was a small affair in Bristol in 1987...there was then a bigger one in Manchester in 1988 where amongst other things the earliest known footage of the Smiths was shown publically for the first time....Mike Joyce and Andy Rourke turned up, Manchester was pilliged and about 1000 people swapped tips on constructing quiffs....celebrate, deliberate, liberate....

WELL, I AM VERY PLEASED TO SEE MORE PEOPLE TELLING IT LIKE IT IS ABOUT THOSE SWEET AND TENDER WANNABES. I SEE ALOT MORE INTELLIGENCE ON THE COMMENTS LISTED ON THIS LISTING. WELL, I WOULD HOPE MORE PEOPLE CONSIDER RESPECTING MORRISEY'S COPYRIGHTS SINCE HE IS A VERY IMPORTANT ARTISTS. IN FACT, IF THE PERSON WHO IMPLIES THEMSELF AS MORRISSEY IS MORRISSEY, THEN I HOPE MORRISSEY BRINGS HIS ATTORNEYS TO THE POSER CONVENTION WITH A WARRANT. Hey, Revenge:
I'm having an idiot convention in my backyard in may, and was wondering if you could perform for your fellow imbeciles. You won't even have to impersonate a complete retard--you are one.

Dearest Revenge: Your angry comments, combined with your second-grade grammatical skills leave me wondering if you can still play guitar. Or has it been collecting dust? It's so easy to laugh, it's so easy to hate, it takes talent to play and sing "I Know It's Over". For over 2 years It's Been Over for you. Get over it.

Los Angeles, CA - Fri, Dec 31, 1999 at 09:32:18 (PST) | #32

The convention should be relocated at least an hour and a half away from Los Angeles, therefore eliminating most of the posers/rebels/cholos, whom only like the "I'm So Sorry," or "Sweetness" songs. The elimination of these people would make the convention more enjoyable for the rest of us, who enjoy all of The Smiths/Morrissey music, the intriguing fans, and the rarites offered at the convention.
