Well, it's certainly more interesting than "girl power" or the 5,000 pop songs a year about being strong and brave. I love Morrissey when he is going against the grain, unlikable and funny...in fact, isn't that why everyone here likes him? I don't get any of you people. So he has funny mean...
Woh, you're right. You really have disillusioned me. I'm going to renounce all of my musical opinions, throw away the hundreds of songs I've written and knowledge about songwriting I've acquired over decades, and take a good long look in the mirror.
Thanks. The thing about my list is that is almost every song Tobias has done with Morrissey (there have been a lot of rare ones recently but I don't know who wrote those.) So to my ears he's been a very consistently good (or great) collaborator. And I had no idea he made a lot of those songs...
Easily. Tobias songs I like or love. It is beyond me why any Morrissey fan would detest these songs with the rage of a thousand suns so much. They're great:
You Have Killed Me
The Youngest Was The Most Loved
In The Future When All Is Well
On The Streets I Ran (one of my all time favorite...
The hatred for Jesse around here seems completely absurd and deranged to me. What are all of your problems with him? I love a lot of the songs he co-wrote. You all speak as if he did you some sort of personal harm.
Oh I can talk about this all day. Snyder is a deft visual stylist, but it happens to be something I find aesthetically ugly. Like I'd never deny Snyder is an artist. He has a singular, how you say, Snyder-esque vision, from his visuals to his themes and etc. I just totally dislike them! And I...
I agree completely. Did Whedon hit it out of the park? Of course not, but probably nobody could in that totally awkward, messy scenario. WB's DC movies and organization had been a complete mess, so what could you expect? I also agree that Whedon is a more talented filmmaker. The episodes of his...
We actually don't know who edited the film. It's unlikely Whedon did, as he's not an editor (that I know of.) It is more feasible that the executives at higher levels (higher than Whedon) supervised the editing and made a lot of those decisions. Perhaps Whedon was involved too, but nobody knows...
Well, I watched the episode. It did seem unusually hateful for a Simpsons parody. Like the writer actually really despises Morrissey and wants to destroy him. It's not a nice look for the show. Like I said, the new writers or whatever is going on there, the tone of the show has been changing for...
I just read the list. It's light on nuance and seems to not understand several of Morrissey's admittedly controversial points. Others lead you to playing a Google game to have to confirm if the people they say are "alt right" or "racist" really are, and guess what? Not convinced. I'm fine with...
I think immigration is a complex issue, different in every country, and I absolutely hate when people think those who want to talk about its complexities and potential drawbacks in the here and now are racist, and there is some really unbelievable things happening in the UK to hide any...
I genuinely don't know what you're angry about here. Does the word itself bother you? Like I said, "for lack of a better word", but how would you define it? I'm all for better ideas.
The trend in the Simpsons writers room (and other tv shows too) is a real thing. I've actually watched all the...
I don't exactly agree, no. I'm a bit conflicted on the Morrissey issue. I truly don't understand his views 100% but they've never seemed "racist" to me. I think many people think he's racist (and couldn't tell you a single quote from him) because everyone says he is, and it's just going by its...
I don't know who that is. I've just been watching the show and making my own observations about it. Even somebody pro-wokeness would probably agree. It's all right there in the writing. Like a lot of TV shows, there is a big batch of new young angry writers who want to cater to a young angry...
They've been like this for about 3 or 4 years. It started creeping in (Bart spraypainting to topple the patriarchy or whatever) and is popping up more and more in the show. As a longtime fan and someone who has regrettably seen every episode, it's pretty bizarre. I consider wokeness the...
Referring to me? For me it's a "for lack of a better word" sort of term. It's contentious but it aptly describes an ideology and a type of person that I think everyone innately understands. What would you define it as?
There has seemingly been a wave of young woke writers who have taken over the show in the past few years. I've noticed a lot of weird and awkward moments in the show where it was clearly "let's show how woke we are!" and had nothing to do with the story. Lisa complaining that "women have to...
