WhyteGrrrl,
I seem to remember Alain being into Pink Floyd-- or at least a fan of prog rock. Definitely shows up on Southpaw (especially the opening and closing tracks).
If Morrissey did come second, it's an amazing achievment on that list, and it means he is the greatest living icon in music, which is as we know undeniable. David Attenborough -- very respectable person in UK culture, no doubt, but nobody wants to be him or be like him (same goes for Macca for...
Either you have the greatest memory in human history (you remember that he mumbled an almost inaudible "well, almost" 8 years ago?), or you checked out the below clip in Morrissey-Solo's own archives (thanks David T), which is what I should've done. Anyway, it was actually the Hot Press awards...
Of course I remember all that -- my point was that so much water has passed under the bridge since those lean years, and the ability to spread video footage has become so much easier...I was hoping it would just sort find its way onto the 'net. Then again, the filmmaker would be even more out of...
South With Morrissey -- good call. I'd love to see Morrissey and the lads touring that part of the world.
Barry Derbyshire, if you're reading, just put it up on Youtube -- it can't be stopped. With all that's happened in Moz' career since '99, he's not even going to notice!
When Moz won award in the UK (I'm sure someone here remembers which one exactly -- there haven't been many), he was introduced by Bono on stage. Bono mentioned reading Morrissey's book on Johnny Thunders on their tour bus (a manuscript, I assume) and that it was "a great book." When Morrissey...
Definitely his autobiography. Also his book on Johnny Thunders (which at least Bono has read, apparently).
And there were the offers of acting roles...
Hadn't previously seen Ambitious Outsiders referenced in connection with the Moors story. Is there a citing for that other than Wiki, I wonder.
I feel ill...
I'm glad that National Front Disco can now be understood and appreciated for the sad tale it is, and not a racist call to arms. The line "England for the English" has been reinstated, and even sung (by the audience) in Scotland according to reports.
I'm glad we've moved beyond the years when...
Ahhh, isn't that always the way. Someone mentions a track they don't like and someone else chimes in about how much they do like it. I have to say I love Teenage Dad... I like the combination of masculine and feminine imagery, Morrissey's impassioned vocal toward the end and the guitar outro...
You can smell his aftershave on the very bottom of his shirt?? Is that because he rubbed it over his body berfore he tossed it out, as He's wont to do?
Before I read your post, I was going to write that SG is Morrissey's best album to listen from beginning to end. I feel the same about ROTT, too. I rarely jump around to different tracks.
Re: Just got back from Russell Brand Show!http://images.morrissey-solo.com/forums/ima
In the immortal words of Frank Booth, "Suave! Goddamn you're one suave f*cker!"
You're a legend!
"I would never embarrass you, Sir. Please, oh please don't recoil!"
It was like Beauty and the Beast there for a second.
and after getting hugged (kawaiiii!)
"Oh, my word."
I don't know who this kook Brand is, but that clip was endearing.
Morrissey is right about how powerful depression is. It's a black cloud inside of your head that you have about as much control over as you do the weather.
Robbie Williams, whatever you think of him (not much, in my estimation), has also been very lucid and articulate about his depression in...
