It's a rather heavy tome, but in my opinion a must read for any Smiths/Moz fan. I felt a bit guilty buying though, as if I should stay loyal to Morrissey. Daft I know, but that's how I felt.
My favourite introduction to a Smiths song. Those few chords at the beginning somehow make me want to cry, no matter how many times I hear them. Morrissey said he heard great sadness in Johnny's chords and this must be one of the best examples. Beautiful.
Oh I've just thought of another brilliant line that nearly reduces me to tears every time:
Gasping - but somehow still alive
This is the fierce last stand of all I am
Gasping - dying - but somehow still alive
This is the final stand of all I am.
So many spring to mind but one of my fave's is from I Know It's Over, the one which says:
And as I climb into an empty bed,
Oh well, enough said.
Brilliant!!
I remember from last year when he changed on Still Ill
"England is mine and it owe's me a living" to
"England's a swine, and it owes me a living".
I can't work out what, if anything, he meant by this change. I have my own theories. What do you think?
I don't know about sex symbol, but I can remember EVERYONE talking about The Smiths the day after their first appearance on TOTP. I think it was the gladioli that did it. A lot of men said he was gay, but most people were just fascinated, not only with this beautiful new music but also with...
Funnily enough I played it over the weekend for the 1st time in about six months and thoroughly enjoyed it. Pigsty is just brilliant. I think maybe it is one of those albums you wouldn't want to hear regularly, but it took me back to last years UK tour and brought back some great great...
I hate these sort of polls. I'm so undecided. But I think it has to be There Is A Light. Even the NME said it is probable the most beautiful piece of music every put to tape! Enough said!
Love it, a 10 from me.
In my heart I begged "Take me with you ...
I don't care where you're going..."
Don't we all feel like that towards Morrissey. I think so!
I just love That's Entertainment. One of my fave songs sung by my fave singer, so I nominate Down In The Tube Station At Midnight. I can just see Morrissey singing "they smelt of pubs, and Wormwood Scrubs"!
I hope and pray that you do. Every fan should have the chance, especially when he means so much to you and you are not just a casual fan. I was very very lucky last year to see him 6 times when he toured the UK. I didn't realise at the time how lucky, as I fear he may not tour here again...
