Who know's the most about Morrissey on here?

Someone please draw up an exam...my ADD is kicking and im ready to ace this one with flying colours!
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?:thumb:

I'd say Stephane for general knowledge and beau for rarities and collectibles. But there are others who are pretty chock-full of Morrissey knowledge, too.

I agree with Stephane, beau and Jamie.

Mel Torment is an expert of live related info.

I don't care what the point is so long as I continue to miss it entirely. ;)

:D I think you hit it by accident more frequently that probability should allow.

Thus he is vague for a reason. There is a point to the obscurity.
We are not meant to know about Morrissey. Only to recognise and reveal ourselves. Which we are all too willing to do...

Jackpot. If we were in a Las Vegas casino sirens would be wailing and strobe lights would be flashing.

You go back to Morrissey's stated philosophies from his early days with The Smiths and that's all it is-- reflecting life back to people simply, squarely, and with a conscious effort to reach the maximum number of people. The fact that he subsequently built his musical career around what appears to be suffocatingly personal autobiography cleverly obscures the basic idea, which has always been there: putting universal human truths in pop music.

I used to pick my final lottery number on Morrissey's last single position but I gave that up after the time he released Boyracer and Sonny on different record labels in the same week.

1995 saw boxers ep (still a very underated Morrissey song) dagenham dave (shit) but those b-sides..... and um ur nothing that hit the Top 40. And you've only just gone!

When one of the moderators here appeared on Mastermind I got all the questions right apart from the first Smiths gig in the USA. My Bangladeshi friends thought I was an ECCENTRIC, well stop putting sweeteners out

I'd also like to say that the new LP is not a patch on Ringleaders and maybe not even the equal of You Are The Quarry and um thats it. This is the first Morrissey LP release I'm really quite comfortable with not listening to any of it on a regular basis. How anyone can even compare Vauxhall And I with this aberration... but then Dear God Please Help Me shits all over most of the new LP.

I would say Something Is Squeezing My Skull and I'm Ok By Myself are good ditties. You Were Good In Your Time is on another stratosphere (Trouble Loves Me, Wide To Receive) and Mama is nearly there but come on people..... this is the bloke who used to put Michael's Bones on a 12" B-side. NOw he puts becasue of my poor education (although My Dearest Love and Children In Pieces are stoical B-sides)

He's not the man you think I am anymore and cos of his beguling characteristics... the genius is in the persona.

I'll be there on his 50th with a few close mates who are united by it all but seriously GIVE IT UP.

The tour dates sound uninspired... a couple of new songs, some Quarry numbers and a back catalogue you were doing last year with the added bonus of Seasick..... I Keep Mine Hidden was your favourite Smiths song when you didn't do Smiths songs and I reckon you were taking the piss. If you're gonna plunder The Smiths back catalogue and;you really have scraped the barrel with This Charming Man;then why no That Joke Isn't Funny Anymore? Isn't it time you reinstated Suedehead/ November. Am I being uber-critical? Has November Spawned A Monster in any shape or form been bettered in terms of grandouosity since? Hector had a pleasant enough vocal melody but "Would you kiss her full in the mouth, or anywhere?"

Are any songs since 2004 better than Break Up The Family? Or majority of Vauxhall and I?? Stop resting on your poet laureate laurels and yes.

Just about all of them actually.

Good night was it ? :squiffy:

Has the Moz changed or have you changed ?, etc
;)

It depends on what you mean - there are people who know a lot about:

  • His lyrics
  • His music
  • His collaborators
  • His life
  • Academic study of Morrissey
  • His fans

There'll be someone on here who is a specialist in each area. However, I'd reckon Stephane and Jamie would be good all-rounders.

Peter

And knowledge of Morrissey / Smiths related places in Manchester and London. And Newport Pagnell:thumb:
And don't forget Angela and Peter have both been on Mastermind:rock:
