The Dispatch: "If You Get ‘Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now,’ You Get The Smiths" (May 18, 2024)

I agree. Compared to the previous 3 singles, this one signalled a new musical direction with a clean production. I really love JM’s guitar playing here and Morrissey’s high falcetto.. But it misses the raw energy of the previous 3 singles. That’s why I wouldn’t rate it among their very best or...

New Morrissey photo posted by Ryan Lowry on his Instagram (May 22, 2024)

I look at the world through blue dreamers eyes. And I want to go somewhere where nobody knows me. Seeing this picture just made me think of this wonderful and uplifting song. Watching the fan video again gave me such a positive boost. Thanks for pisting this lovely picture

Happy birthday to my favorite crooner. Wherever life takes you from here, may it bring you some peace of mind, happiness and freedom to do what you like.

    Question Maladjusted favourite lyrics

I wasn’t very familiar with George Formby, but that’s a good one. I read on Wiki that Formby was a comedian / actor / singer born in Lancashire. Has Morrissey ever referenced him?

    Question Maladjusted favourite lyrics

I used to dislike the song in the old days, but I can appreciate the song now. The lyrics are just so funny. And he else than Morrissey would actually write a song about a window cleaner? I agree that the subject matter is very light in comparison to the other songs on the album. It brings some...

    Question Maladjusted favourite lyrics

Every line from ‘The edges are no longer parallel’. The song is not particularly wordy, but every word hits deep. A song about loss and the batlle with depression. From Amunition: I don’t dwell on things I am missing Iam just pleased with things I’ve found.

    What will Morrissey do next?

    So do I.

    What will Morrissey do next?

I really like the idea of a double album - mainly to be done with all this waiting - but didn’t vote for it. I think that stylistically, they are2 different albums with 2 different producers, so it won’t work verywell from an artistic perspective. 2024 may well be the lousiest Morrissey year in...

Dave Haslam: "The Star & Garter - A Night At The Smiths Disco..." (April 8, 2024)

I don’t like dance, disco’s and DJ’s either. I don’t see anything wrong with that. To each their own.

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Agree that Morrissey andbig commercial festivals are a no go these days for various reasons. And yes, I saw Morrissey at the Lokerse feesten in 2011, no hamburgers that night to celebrate the occasion. And the funny thing is that I was at the Lokerse feesten last year, and I heard a big fat guy...

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

As long as both of them are still alive, there’s a shimmer of hope. For now, lets see which song Johnny and TB will play together.

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Thanks, that’s the biggest one so good for him. Morrissey never got to play there, not even at the peak of his commercial success (2004 -2006).

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Covering Laid at the time of Dear God please help me, that’s the time of ROTT, could have been funny. But my guess is that M had long lost interest in James by then. Don’t think M and Tim ever caught up again with each other.

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Which Belgian festival are you talking about? I see no shows in Belgium posted on Johnny’s website.

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Wasn’t James the first band handpicked by the Smiths to support them on tour? And there’s also a live Smiths cover of one of the early James songs (What’s the world). It’s a glorious past that Morrissey & Marr once shared, now it feels like Marr is claiming it as his own and I can’t imagine...

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

When I visited Lisbon in April 2019, I remember picking up one of these “What’s on “ booklets which had a big advertisement for James. Turned out they played in Lisbon 2 nights before my arrival. Really too bad.

James and Johnny Marr US Tour

Sit Down was quite popular in Belgium, the Laid album too (and I really love that one), but no more hits after that.

What if this was an album

It would be nice to get an official release of these 4 outta kes from the LIHS recording sessions. And it should have a bonus disk with hard-to-find or unreleased tracks of the mid 90s, songs like Kit, Honey you know where to find me, Youshould have been nice to me, some of the earlier...
