Best double album ever?

Louder than Bombs, of course. What else? :)

I few others that spring to mind:

Japan, Oil on Canvas
Beatles; Blue album
The Cure; Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me
Pink Floyd; The Wall

I'm going to cheat and say, Public Image Ltd., Second Edition.

Double albums in their initial vinyl edt. :
1 - Tindersticks II
2 - Dirty Three - Ocean Songs
3 - Tindersticks I
4 - Tindersticks - Curtains
(in that order)

"Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness" by The Smashing Pumpkins. Phenomenal, for the most part.
"Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" by Elton John.
"Louder Than Bombs" by The Smiths. Not a proper studio album but that doesnt matter. Aces all the way!
"Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me" by The Cure. Frankly Robert Smith doesnt seem to garner a lot of appreciation. He's one of the best songwriters of all-time and most of this double album exemplifies that.

Peter Gabriel's farewell to Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway - musical theatre not the usual concept album junk.
