Can you change your username?

No, basically there may be abuse and I don't want to spend time dealing with account issues like that. You can just create a new username if you want a new one. Some basic guidelines on accounts are in the detailed FAQ.

What do you mean by there may be abuse? If in order to change your user named you had to PM a mod like on other forums then how could people abuse it?

There is probably not much likelihood of abuse. Someone could request a name similar to someone else, or keep requesting name changes when they felt like it. I'd rather not have the moderators or myself deal with these issues and extra work. Perhaps in the future there will be a better nickname system for the vbulletin software.
