It's an undeniably forgotten classic in the Smiths canon I must say. It's an album which is a delight to rediscover over and over and over again.. 'A rush and A push' is arguably the best smiths album opener.. (for me anyway) along with the Queen is Dead of course.. take me back to dear old blighty..

You're preaching to the converetd here though.. And I always like 'Death at ones elbow' although I know it's not every ones favourite (I tend to gravitate towards the rockabilly type tracks) 'Oh Glennnn..'

What memories do these songs bring back Andy?

'Stop Me...' is the best track on that album. It has a fine collection of songs. I don't think The Queen Is Dead is any better.

"I Won't Share You" is my fave from that album. Agree with Ruff that "Death At One's Elbow" is brilliant.

Only song I don't love on the album is "Last Night". Probably my favourite album from The Smiths....this week at least

Johnny, what's going on? I'm finding myself nodding in agreement (although it could just be me rocking to and fro like a window-licker, eh?)

I've always liked 'Death At One's Elbow', my least fave on Strangeways is 'Last Night...' and 'I Won't Share You' is one of my faves off it too.

I hope normal service will be resumed soon. You MUST be ill !

Bluenose,

The only thing you and I agree on is that you ARE a window licker.
You said your favourite track on "Strangeways" was "Stop Me..." and I said mine was "I Won't Share You".

How in the name of the wee man is that agreeing ??

....and how did you know I was ill ? I never talk about it...even though I am dying. Poor Johnny...no one loves him etc,etc

"I Won't Share You" is a lovely song ahh always brings a lump to me throat

Are you going soppy in your old age, bab?

...and Stretch Out and Wait

Those two songs are my lesser known favorites.
