Well, I accept the appalling Ross may not have helped but I found the whole thing toe curling. His short chat with Jools Holland in support of Southpaw Grammar was the real Morrissey (the one in my head...). Amusing, relaxed and thoroughly entertaining.
Incidentally Morrissey lionised Bowie until he met him. QED.

Someone I know who doesn't "get" Morrissey (or even like him, for that matter) said it looked like Mozza was verklempt... not burping. Sheesh, ya'll, Moz is not actually human, he doesn't have bodily functions, don't you know that? But he does cry real tears. I think.
