Morrissey and BPD

I think this might be the fundamental clue to unlock the mystery of Morrissey. What do you think?

I believe this has been suggested before...interesting, for sure. And I wonder about elements of NPD in his behaviour as well.

NPD makes a lot of sense to me. I was close to a couple of clinical narcissists and they are unusually charismatic people, others are magnetically drawn to them but they are ruthless at disposing of friends when they are no longer useful. They don't feel compassion because there are are simply no feelings there. With regard to themselves, though, they feel everything intensely and you never hear the end of it: constant drama, unfounded paranoia and hard-luck stories which are never, ever their fault. One I knew went bankrupt because he spent money like the Aga Khan even though he only earned a very modest amount; the other I knew was completely certifiable and had a mental health 'personal assistant' with him at all times, attending to his every need (not sure whether this included salt grinding) because he just couldn't cope with everyday life. Both spoke about themselves in the same sweeping, grandiose terms that Morrissey is fond of. Both suffered terribly with depression. And they could both lie for England.

It's been talked about here before but I do also think Asperger's is a strong possibility when you watch him interact with people. There's a very particular kind of awkwardness that is familiar to me with having Aspie family members.

bipolar polar bears have that as well.

In all the years I have read posts on this site about Moz, I started to wonder how much anything of what the self acclaimed psychiatrists posted was true.

If it was only for them you might expect him to be hospitalised the rest of his life forever in a specialised institute. Forced.

In fact the ism’s thrown at him were broadened by autism as well.
I believe he is very much able of taking care of himself and laughs at all the amateur psychiatrists. :lbf:

Ah, but Q, when those we care about behave like a knob, to the point of embarrassment, we look for explanations, don't we?

Yes.
True, but tbe search for an explanation went to crazy and far fetched hypotheses and started me to question the motives of the so-called “fans”.

I believe love and hate are very near to eachother and even more so in the Morrissey cult.

Maybe they got too close like moths to a flame, burning their feathers and falling to the ground.
He is quite a character.

I have a problem though imagining people who don’t give a shit about him or his music posting endlessly about him or why they don’t care or are rightfully hating him. I can’t understand.

Is that a professional opinion?

he definitely does NOT have borderline personality disorder:rolleyes:

Alas dear QQQ, laughing at psychiatrists, amateur or professional, is just something people with NPD do. It is believed that it is one disorder that can't be cured. I've read that sometimes it can improve with age, but apparently Morrissey has chosen the other route...

Also I think psychiatrists have a genuine desire to help. I think that to become one you have to have your head examined by a psychiatrist yourself, don't you? It's not all about sitting in an armchair, listening to people and taking loads of money from them you know. And amateur psychiatrists do it for free and because they're trying to understand why some people act in a way that seems mad to them. Nothing wrong with that, is there? :) At least they care a bit, even if a purely intellectual way sometimes...

I think it's more likely that he's somewhere on the spectrum. A lot of his behaviours are suggestive of this and there are a lot of undiagnosed adults out there.

There is no such thing in life as normal. We're just trying to understand.

Someone should sic all these bizarre amateur head shrinks on the vast variety of Neo Nazi anti semitic anons that parade themselves around here on a daily basis. FFS:mask: See if they can use their skills to match the anon to their real avatar. I can point them to a couple of avatars if they need a first push.doh:

I was diagnosed with bpd four years ago, it's a mental disorder an r does not excuse his behaviour. His songs certainly speak to me though. still,I'll never defend him in the subject of Kevin spacy or tolerate his political beliefs.

Please note I'm nice as f*** apparently. I'm feeling more stigmatized than usual tonight. Bpd is totally debilitating. To actually use a mental health problem as a way to explain his attitude is frankly offensive.

Not to explain his political opinions, but to throw light over his behaviour and personality :)

No, he is not borderline... people with borderline are scum of the earth... if you ever have had a relationship with borderline you would know that... and whatever Morrissey is - he is not a borderline...

I don't think he has BPD as in a lot of ways he's a highly functioning adult. He may like a lot of folk in general if you studied them in great detail may have a few of the features at most. I feel unlike a lot of global artists he doesn't have a huge band of people who do everything for him. I imagine he does a lot of organising himself and someone if they had BPD would be overwhelmed by organising a world tour. I know he's speaks about his depression and that would be challenging enough for anyone. I think people confuse the perception of someone being difficult to BPD and that undermines what someone who has BPD contends with.
