Releasing another single from the album is a perfectly sensible thing to do after the swarm of biased reviews from people who slagged it off because they disagree with him politically. It'll hopefully put people back on track with the music, not their feelings.

What would releasing the single now do to change those opinions? No one is going to know he even released another single. Even if they did, I don't see how anything that has occurred since then would change their opinion.

Also, Morrissey is a lyricist who writes political songs, and makes political statements. It's all about feelings. Responding to the subject matter is a large part of the listening process when lyrics are involved. Besides, Morrissey makes many of those statements in order to get a response. He's just seemingly oblivious to the circumstances of living in a different era. He used to getting away with it, and it's just a risky gambit in the age of social media.

The people that his comments used to reach inhabited a much smaller space, and those people were often intentionally reading about them. Most people hate to read, but now they have to because information is plastered all over their social media accounts. It's easy to have an opinion about almost anything when other opinions are being forced on you, and Morrissey is as guilty of that as anyone.

When politics becomes the art, it will be judged by critics based on those standards. Also, many reviewers had positive things to say about the music, and the production, but the band's sound, and leadership is not defined well enough to go deeper into their contributions.

Ultimately, we're discussing a pop singer, and his words; not the nuances of Mahler.

In All the Young People and Girl from Tel Aviv they've got two catchy, radio friendly beauties.

Seems like a low-key, low stakes kind of single. If I was BMG, I wouldn't pay for a video, since it wouldn't make LIHS sell that many copies and a 7-inch single is a niche product for the fans. But no harm in releasing it. The couple of thousand fans who enjoy collecting 7-inch singles and live covers can buy and enjoy, the rest of the world can carry on as normal.
